• My nitrous experience w/ questions.

I got it installed wednesday and started with a 75 shot. First, I gotta say, WHOA! It can be very addictive, so now i'll try my hardest to be assertive with it. I already been through a bottle in less than a week!

Now, after refilling the bottle, I decided to try out a 100 shot. I decided to run my partner in his 99 SS. I rolled into WOT at 3000+ rpms and still spun! We were dead even until my car started to shift at around 5800-6000 rpms. It lagged, or seemed liked my car lost power and that's when he pulled away. AFTER it shifted into 2nd gear, it went back to normal. It did it with the 75 shot a few times also. To my knowlegde, it doesn't do this N/A. I do have a fpss which may be the case. Anyone else have this problem?

It is the transmisson man. I had the same problem that is the reason why i got a shift kit. The computer isnt ready for that much hp at the shifts So tourqe management kicks in and retards the timing and then slows the car down between shifts It shortens this process greatly when u have at least a stage II shift kit

Ok thanx. My partner with the SS said the same thing, but wasn't too sure.

He also mentioned when I get my converter installed, I would probably have to get my shift points changed with hpp or something. Did you have to do get your shift points recolaborated?

Personally I think you jumped up in shot levels too quick.

You may want to spend some time on a dyno and do what is called a wide band dyno reading.

This would make sure you have adequate fuel.

If it lagged as it shifted then the tranny is slipping.

Change the fluid, add a tranny cooler and try again.

If it felt like it was losing power.... was there is a pulsing? Pulsing indicated FPSS doing what it is suposed to do

My car used to lose power in the top end on nitrous. Turned out to be the fuel pump. Thank god for the FPSS. Is your car ever hard to start when cold starting it? That is also a sign of a bad fuel pump.

If it is DURING the shifting process then I dunno. I don't have an auto.

12sec, though I already have a tranny cooler, I'll take everything you said into consideration. I switched back to the 75 shot jets, but I didn't spray again yet.

AZCamaro, I don't have any problems starting my car up on hot or cold days. It fires right up. It only happens when it's shifting.

I ran my car N/A tonight and the tranny shifted normally with no problems. I also found a guy in my area that will autotap my car. I hope that'll answer some questions.

Update: Well, I got my car autotapped yesterday and here's the results: 0 Knock, running lean at idle and partial throttle, but rich at WOT? He mentioned getting it reversed or something? My tranny IS slipping, so I do need to change my fluid/filter. I'm gonna get that changed when I get my torque converter w/ shift kit installed.

Check you ground connections to the wot switch.. My ground was loose on mine and it would spray then not then spray then not until one morning I came out to my car and went to purge and nothing.. I looked under the hood and the ground wire was hanging there.. That was 5 weeks ago and since I tighten the wire down it hasnt done it again..

If your pcm is working, and the sensors are working, then car should not run lean or rich at part-throttle. The pcm will constantly vary the a/f ratio on either side of 14.7:1 (or .5 volts). It will swing constantly from about .2 to .8 volts. It only stabilizes when you go wot, and then you should be seeing at least .87, preferably more around .90-.92 when spraying.

I probably misunderstood him. I know he did mention reversing it and getting my car tuned to run richer at at idle. Something like that..

So, you do know the tranny is slipping?
Could be burnt fluid?
Try changing the fluid and filter first and maybe spray again.

I've done this before.

But, the smart thing is to have a tranny built for high hp.

If you add the converter to this ailing tranny the slipping will increase

Yes, the tranny is slipping. It also showed on the diagram when I got my car diagnosed. With 31,000 miles on the ride, I know it's time for a fluid change especially with all of the drag/streetracing I've been doing. When I add a converter, a shift kit/servo along with changing the fluid/filter will all be done the same day. Hopefully, it'll help.
