i would assume the closer the better.

but you wouldnt want it so close it hits the piston, you know?

you figure the valves have ~ .400" lift

the ur plugs are ~.400" long. the tr plugs are ~.750"

obviously if you have em, and theyre in all the way with no problems, then theres no problem. though id be curious to see the difference. i dont have an iron head lying around though.

i can tell you i didn't tighten them down ALL the way, just to the point where i was like "jeez, these things are just never gonna get down all the way"

3.4 take the same plugs as a 350SBC, I NEVER EVER recommend the use of NGK plugs EVER. They WILL fail and it will be soon...use Autolites or ACDelco...its all I ever use for my cars and you can ask anyone...my cars run better and faster than people with the exact same set up...NGK is CRAP

I've run nothing but NGK's (TR6's or 3346's) and never had a problem with them.

i had an issue with them in my 3.4 twice...I even refused to sell them when I worked at Advance Auto. Bosch for Chrysler and European cars, autolite for fords and some chevys, ACDelco for all GM. o0o and if you run a TR6 in a 3.4 with N2O you can kiss you rods good by...an autolite 26 should do the trick. also your going to need a tune to retard your timing about 6-8 degrees, I would call FAST to see if they can do anything for you.

TR6 should fit perfect. I love NGK's, been runniing them for 8 years now. Just check your gap on each one. They should be pre-gapped at .035 but I always double check before installing.

Yea don't listen to this guy...6-8 degrees of retard, give me a break bro. Also there is no need to call FAST. NGK are what people have been running for years without issues. Yes they are going to be needing to get changed more often due to being on nitrous and all but that is it.

Huh? The timing may need to be retarded a degree or 2 but 6-8 is a tad excessive bro. He's only doing a 50 shot so he should be fine as is.

both coming from guys with 3.8s, I spent over a year researching on the 3.4, and with the help of black34v6, i've worked every single aspect of that motor to a T, and i'm just about ready to drop it back in....o and just so you know, at 3000rpm the 3.4 runs at 40* advance. you can ask turboproject and black34v6.

it has to be done through the ECU because its a DIS system, however, a MSD DIS-4 box could also give you the proper setting when tuned right which is a DIY thing. you could also you an MSD step retard which will only pull timing when your spraying. personally I would just use a step retard box.

btw, while i have your knowledge at hand, i have a question;


when spraying is there a certain length of time you should not exceed? is there a certain length of time that is too short?

for ex. would it be safe to spray for longer than 10 seconds, and shorter than 5?
