• TNT Kit

Alright, I'm interested in a TNT Wet kit, a friend of mine with a 94 Vert Z28 swears by TNT's systems, so he's sold me.

I know both Magnus and 12SecondV6 use TNT kits, so this question is mainly directed at them, but if anyone else has any insight, it would be appreciated.

Here's what I've got:
97 Camaro A4 3800
3.08 gears, no LSD, rear drums
Two piece steel driveshaft
Modified intake
Soon to have Flowmaster 80 Series plus cat-back.

My questions:
1. Magnus/12SecV6, what are the part numbers for the TNT kits you are running? I want to make sure I get a proven kit, and you two have most definitely made an impact in the 3800 F-Body world. How much do they cost?
2. If the kits do not come with the safety equipment recommended, what other parts should I get? (FPSS, Window switch, etc)
3. Is there any discreet way to install the setup? For example, I want to keep my back seat. What is available as far as a remote bottle opener is concerned, and what would you recommend? I'd like to install the bottle maybe in the spare-tire storage area.
4. I'm looking to run a 100 RWHP shot (TNT kits are based on RWHP from what I've heard.), my motor's internals are stock. From what, I gather, Taylor 8.8mm spark plug wires are a good idea. What else do you recommend I change/upgrade? What sort of spark plugs are a good investment for a smoothly operating nitrous setup?
5. When installed, do you recommend that the MAF screen is removed? I've heard horror stories of the MAF screen being sucked into the engine thanks to a little nitrous hiccup.
6. What else do you recommend that I have not covered?

The thought of running nitrous excites and scares me at the same time, so I want to make sure I get everything done right the first time. Thanks again

Hey James, alot of people will want to reem you for asking all these questions, so before the lynching begins, I'll throw some ideas out there for you.

Safety: WOT switch, FPSS, RPM window switch, and blow down tube are all recommended for safety purposes. You can get away without some of them, but for a beginner kit, I will say get them just in case, they can save you alot of money down the road.

Part Number: On our website, we have a kit that is abeled 21-F-1009-10. This month all TNT kits are $75 off! So at $525, it's a steal. Check out www.nitrous-power.com for alot of TNT accesories that aren't listed on our website (we can get them for you even though they aren't listed). Taylor wires are nice especially for the price. And most people will agree that you will need a set of NGK TR6's gapped at .035" for optimal performance.

MAF screen is an on-going debate, I personally have mine removed. I see in your profile you have custom tuning...What kind is it? If it's a hypertech or other plug0n-play chip, be careful, most of them advance your timing and that is a bad thing when using nitrous. Feel free to email me or call me at work anytime with questions, concerns, or to place your order (or even just to say hey if you're bored ) Hope this helps, have fun!

Thank you very much for your help, much appreciated. I might pick up that nitrous kit from you guys at some point. Would I still be able to get the $75 off after Christmas, because Christmas is when the money rolls in. =]

no LSD
Two piece steel driveshaft

back to these in a minute...

Check the link in my sig. In the nitrous folder there's some pics with a spare tire mounting. I didn't spend the money on a remote opener, but I did set it up where I can reach the knob through the speaker grille. I have a couple of mounting locations for switches in the appearance folder.

4. I'm looking to run a 100 RWHP shot... What else do you recommend I change/upgrade?

I'd ditch the 2-piece driveshaft. And you'll want an lsd rear at some point, for traction. You might want 3.23 or 3.42 gears too, so it would make sense to do those at the same time as the lsd.

5. When installed, do you recommend that the MAF screen is removed? I've heard horror stories of the MAF screen being sucked into the engine thanks to a little nitrous hiccup.

I had a better idle with it in. But my dry kit froze the screen and it got sucked up around the maf sensor. Luckily it stopped there. So I removed it, and left it out.

Mine is a TNT wet kit for LT1's

Pic's in the sig.

Before you spray buy a 1 piece D/S and contact a salvage yard for a V8 rear.

With this you get rear disc brakes, LSD and stick with 3:23's and also V8 rear sway bar.

Keep the maf screen in, the 99 and newer guys n gals can ditch it due to their direct air intake design.

As for the shot.... stay with a 75, no more.
I went 13.0 in piss poor weather with less mods on a 75 wet shjot.

I run a 100 shot currently and keep screwingf up on a 125 shot.

The safety biuts are posted throughout this section, take a look and get back to us.
