  • Lets talk about Zex baby...

I did some searching and read a lot about the TNT and NOS 5175 kits, but what about Zex? Has anybody had any trouble with their kit? I've been looking into a nitrous system...

    http://www.zex.com/store/merchant.mv...e=Pontiac-wKit

Is that a good kit/price compared to the NOS 5175 kit? I have no clue what the difference between wet and dry is or which is better... I just want something cheap and "safe" (50 shot). I also read a few people's repies about finding the kits for really cheap through a local source rather than buying online... how cheap are we talking?

And so far I've found that I will need a fuel pressure safe switch? I have no idea where to find one, looked at a few of our sponsor pages and didn't see one for sale. Can somebody tell me how much they are and where to find it? Would I need this switch with a wet kit or only with a dry kit?
Other than that... what else do I need? Bottle warmer? Purge kit?

Little info... I have a 95 3.4L that just rolled over 67,000 miles. I have taken very good care of it (dad is a mechanic)... I have an MSD DIS-4 ignition too, so I guess that might help with the nitrous? I don't know... My car has to last at least 2 more years until I am out of school, so thats about another 20,000-24,000 miles. I should be safe with a 50 shot right? Would a 50 shot be safer with a wet kit or dry, or doesn't matter until you get to the 85-100hp level?

Well you should be able to take a 50 shot fine. The difference between a wet kit and dry kit is the method of fuel enrichment. In a dry kit only nitrous is sprayed into your intake manifold, the MAF then tells the PCM to increase fuel pressure to the injectors (and the signal pulse duration I believe) in order to add the proper amount of fuel to the sprayed nitrous. A wet kit has an additional line which taps off of the fuel rail and runs to the spray nozzle in your system. At the nozzle the fuel and nitrous is atomized in a fine mist. I have done a lot of looking around and the Zex kit, although a little pricey, seems like a smart purchase and well designed. A wet kit I feel is preferable as you are less like to run in to injector problems (clogging, insuifficient flow). As long as the fuel pump is adequete you can probably run a 100-125 shot (with an inline fuel pump booster to be safe), if not 75 probably pretty safe. As far as the fuel pressure switch is involved, Zex has pressure control wired into their NMU, NOS kit 5175 I believe includes one, otherwise YES BUY ONE, and a bottle heater. I'd also recommend you call zex for the proper kit # you need. The kit you linked to I believe, although it isn't specified is for V8s only, the kit they recommended for me was actually listed for other makes but because of differences in the 6s and 8s was a good fit.

I'm not a fan of ZEX, it has been discussed why.

Try a search on it and let me know if you have any q's

            hey,
i have a zex kit and have never had any problems with it, i think its actually a honda kit, but basically universal, ive only sprayed 75, but 50 should be rather "safe", anytime anybody asks about zex i always give the thumbs up!!
