  • Purge Line Length

Does it matter how long the pipe is from the purge solenoid to its exit? I have my purge solenoid kind of towards the front of the engine, but want to run a line to the windshield/hood section like 12sec did. This seems like it would be long, so I want to know if that is ok with purge, or should I make it as short as possible?

why would it matter, you're just spraying it into the air? the part that needs to be short is how close the purge solenoid is to the nitrous solenoid, so you can purge as much of the line as possible....

my purge goes from my inner fender, back to my firewall and up through my heat extractor to the ram air grills on the hood whcih is a longer distance then you plan and it still sprays it out at high pressure

Mine goes from behind the battery To where the windshield washer is into a T and exits out each port on the front end. Still purges fine and looks sweet.

Nothing wrong w/ long line except more nitrous is wasted.

I used to have a purge line 6 inches, it worked. Now it is 5-6 feet and WASTES a lot of nitrous

Mine was really long. The solenoid was on the driver side near the strut tower. The line then went back towards the windshield, then INTO the hood, then forwards towards the front of the car (inside the hood), then split at the front of the hood and two lines purged straight up from the little indentions in the 93-97 style Firebird hoods. I didn't feel that it wasted alot of nitrous. The nitrous is a fog, so it doesn't take too much of it to fill that little line, and at 900+ psi, you bet your @ss it's gonna travel through it fast.

Plus I love pulling up to a ricer and purging on him from the nostrils of the hood. It's a crowd pleaser too.
