  • 12v Source

After a long weekend the nitrous kit is installed just a few little things I have to finish to complete it. I was wondering if theres a better 12v power source for me to use rather then wrapping the wire around a fuse in the fuse box inside the car just doesn't seem very sercure to me......

That's where mine is hooked up, I believe the cig lighter is 12v as well?

Inside the car I always use the positive on one of the cig lighters. Definately more secure than around a fuse. The cig lighter is also a fused source, so you don't need to worry about putting your own fuse in.

I just wrap the wire around the fuse and plug it in......the cig lighter seems to be a better source though, it'll be less of an annoyance if you have to change the fuse the wire is wrapped around.

I'm curious to know if you had 5 different things tapped into one 12v power source how would that effect anything, instead of having 1 tapped into it.

Also does it make a difference the amount of wires grounded to one spot? I found a spot in the engine compartment that something in there was using for a ground and basically used that one spot for all my grounds (solenoids, arming switch, and window switch). Everything seemed to work fine but wondering if it'll have a long term effect?

There is a ground below and to the right side of the glove box, if you remove the kick panel you will see a couple wires grounded there already.

Its one less wire to run through the firewall.

They make spade connectors to splice wire to that can plug into the fuse block. The Cig lighter source is good too, just ALWAYS make sure to either solder and shrinktube connections, or use a good insulated buttsplice. Twisting wires together is dangerous, can cause sparks and is risky to say the least, especially with a nitrous system.
