I was thinking of putting 50 shot.

What is the difference between wet and dry kit?

How much should I expect to spend on all parts that will be required to make this thing safe and sound? (install I'll do myself)

Can I run 87 octane on 50 shot?
Can I run stock platinum plugs on 50 shot?
How bad is 50 shot for engine internals?
Will I need to have less restrictive exhaust?
Will I need to make any ignition upgrades?
Will I need to adjust timing with ICM programmer?

Thanks

Yea there is a nice little feature to the forums here that is called the "search" feature. You can find all your answers using that. Every one of your questions will be found using the search feature.

1. why such a weak shot? the engine can handle 100 shot right off the bat.

2. dry kits only inject nitrous, and the car has to provide the extra fuel. wet kits mix fuel and nitrous together.

3. it's not cheap, but it'll be cheaper than a turbo or blower...the NOS 5175 kit can be had for around $500, a used one you can get for half that. all the safety equipment (FPSS, window switch, etc.) will cost you too, but it's still relatively cheap.

4. i'm not sure about this. i think you're supposed to run higher octane fuel to prevent detonation.

5. platinum plugs are a bad idea, they get hot and stay hot, which can lead to detonation. use colder copper plugs.

6. a 50 shot isn't bad at all, as long as you set the system up right. like i said, the engine can take 100 shot right off the bat.

7. a better-flowing exhaust is a good idea on ANY car. go for it!

8. you should do a tune-up on the car, replace the spark plugs, wires, etc. an MSD ignition system isn't a bad upgrade.

9. timing must be retarded to prevent detonation when using nitrous.

hope that answers your questions. next time, though, use the search button.

Run higher octane fuel, colder plugs are a good idea, but mainly lower the gap to about .035.

Stock timing is fine, NO TIMING ADVANCE, if you have jet chip or something else, even the IAC mod, take it out.

Exhaust is a good idea.

No ignition upgrades needed, just plugs.

Get a FPSS (Fuel Pressure safety switch) and a WOT (Wide open Throttle) switch at least (they should come with your kit.) I strongly recommend a window switch also for an M5 car.
