  • 10lb. to 15lb. nitrous bottle swap

...do i need a different gauge for the upgraded bottle?
...I did'nt even fully open up the valve from the 15lb. bottle, and I noticed the readings from my pressure gauge spin all the way around.
    ...incorrectly filled?
...should I let out some of that pressure?
    ...is it safe?
...if it is, would the nitrous silenoid get damaged?

hmmm...James would be better for this one...but as far as i know you do not need a different gauge for a different lb. bottle...higher lb. bottles are cool because if you have 5 more lbs. of nitrous at 900psi ..then its just going to last longer at that pressure...instead of having to fill it more often (like my 10 lb.) ...i would guess either the gauge may have some damage...or it was incorrectly filled...maybe someone thought it was a 20 lb. or something...i would obviously not use it at that pressure

No you won't need a different gauge.

I think there may be a problem with your gauge, not the pressure in the bottle, because I believe if it was under that much pressure there is a safety disk that would blow out where the blow down tube attaches.

If there really is that much pressure in there yes I would let some out, possibly weigh the bottle I know a 10# bottle fully filled weighs 23# I think, however I don't know about the 15# bottle empty/full weight, but someone should.

^^^but when would it blow off?..i was told mine wouldnt blow the safety disk and blow down until 3000psi...i figured the tank would blow before then but was just like...whatever

The 10 and 15 pound bottles have the same circumference... but the 15 is a longer bottle.

Everything should be able to be interchangable between 10 and 15 lb'ers.

As for the guage being iffy..... weigh the 15 bottle... there should be a placard on it and somewhere list full and empty bottle weight.

That way you will see how much nitrous is in there.

I have had 12 pounds of nitrous stuffed in a 10 pound bottle... but I do not suggest it!
