  • 150 dry shot

    so im bouncing around a few ideas to get the most power out of my car...i have internals...but keep in mind my block is also bored...so...is a 150 dry shot do-able on my car?...stock timing ok? (i figure the car will pull 3 - 4 degrees on its own)...my fuel system will already be upgraded (pump/injectors/tuning)...John D. said he ran a 150 dry shot with 3.42s and 24# injectors about 8 times and was still running rich...but he ended up getting a 13.2 out of it...any thoughts?..thanks [img]smile.gif[/img]

      we have the same mission. I want my car still to be able to drive on a daily basis, yet want the most power out of it. Good Luck and for myself !!!! Well, I need the luck I am new to the forum and the wording is like another language I guess lol

          2001V6Power ...i hear ya man...this is my ONLY car now...i blew up mywinter car lol...i want it to me streetable...but at the same time i really want to make people saw WOW when they see my V6 light up the board...good luck man!!...hang around cuz i've learned so much from the people who've been here longer...James mostly cuz im all about the nitrous...tried the powerdyne for a little...but theres a lot of guys that know a whole lot [img]smile.gif[/img]

            150 Dry for a daily driver w/ stock timing is a crap shoot. You may break something the first time you spray.

            Even with a built engine if it is your only car I'd stick to around 100 shot.

            John_D. and Min are the only one's I know of that have run 150 dry shot, and I'm not 100% sure Min ran dry?

            Tuning a 150 Dry shot is going to be very difficult, and with a GT cam you won't need a 150 shot anyways to get low 13s-high 12s

            As far as the cam, I would go ahead and do at least some comp 105# springs and steel retainers to be on the safe side!

              Also, john goes 13.1 with a 150 shot?

              Not sure of his elevation, but on a 120 shot I went 12.8

                  i was thinking of that too...the only thing i can think of was that John said he was running pretty rich...so that slowed him a little i think...he said he had a .28 jet in the bypass T ..he was trying to run more and more nitrous until the air/fuel ratio evened out...but even on the 150 shot he said he was still running rich...so with some tuning i think i could do pretty well on a 75 - 100 shot and the cam...which im still talking about on my other post in advanced tech...comp cams 76-801-9 with lifters, retainers, and springs [img]smile.gif[/img]

                    He has put an extensive amount of tuning into the car.

                    VERY knoweldgable person with the dry kit and tuning btw

                      yeah John D has pretty much done everything...the spray seems to be working great for me so far...i dont have any complaints...just wanna run faster :D ...so once i get the gears and injectors installed im gonna recalibrate for those...then once i get the cam done (IF i decide to go with one) ...im just gonna tune the living sh*t out of it...im gonna see how she runs on just the gears and a 125 shot first...i figure i'll probably be low 13s...then i have to decide if thats enough for me...but knowing myself...im gonna want 12s and end up getting the cam...but if i get into the 12s with the gears and 125 shot i'll just stick right there...all i need is a full second...plus im gonna be putting wider tires on the back for even more traction...probably 285/40/18s ...so i think its gonna be close [img]smile.gif[/img]

                        285 40 18's?

                        Not a good choice for traction.
                        I used to run 275 40 17 goodyear eagle ZR40's

                        On a stock converter and a 120 dry shot I could spin the tires thru 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and into overdrive.

                        There is video floating around of me doing that in a parking lot.
