Sure spraying through shifts is harder on your tranny! BUT, it's what most everybody does. With a WOT switch, you have to stay on the peddle all the way dow the track, or kiss your slip goodbye. Window switch will not kill it during the shifts, because your RPM's will be between the window during shifts obviously.

I spray through shifts.
In theory, to make it safer, you could have a window switch shut the nitrous off just before your about to shiftRace car - gone but not forgotten - 1997 firebird V6

Nobody answered DarkEcho's question...
OH and also, if you are spraying while going wot, and then you just let off the gas, is that going to make you go lean for a split second? or is it better to turn off the switch before you shutdown.....2002 Black Firebird:<br />A4, Y87, W68, T-tops<br />Best NA ET: 15.16 @ 90<br /> <a href=\"http://members.cardomain.com/darksde02\" target=\"_blank\">http://members.cardomain.com/darksde02</a>

i just let off the gas...this immediately shuts down the nitrous...a wet kit isnt effected at all since the stock injectors are still working...on a dry kit the fuel presssure drops to normal as soon as the nitrous flow stops due to the FPR that connects right at the solenoids <b>12 SECOND DUAL STAGE DRY NITROUS POWERED 98 A4 V6 CAMARO<br /><a href=\"http://www.mysickcamaro.50megs.com\" target=\"_blank\">www.MySickCamaro.50megs.com</a><br />Best ET: 12.82@103<br />Best MPH: 104.7<br />Best 60\': 1.75 - Stock TC</b><br /> </font><blockquote><font size=\"1\" face=\"Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif\">quote:</font><hr /><font size=\"2\" face=\"Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif\">Originally posted by Shodown:<br /><strong>1DV6 runs 12\'s...enough said. </strong></font><hr /></blockquote><font size=\"2\" face=\"Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif\">

hmm ok one more question, which gear is the most effective taking the nitrous, say i was to limit my nitrous spray to only second or third gear... i assume second is better because its sooner than third and first doesnt work because you wouldnt have enough time until it shifts to use just 1st gear... but if you set the window to like 200rpm after second starts, and a few hundred before it changes, then it would start and shut off during second gear, BUT does third gear re enter that window? IF SO then you would get something like this
so your launching and in 1st obviously, it shifts to second and starts flowing nitrous, go faster RPMS rise, nitrous shuts off, shift to third renentering the rpm range and kicking back on the nitrous, wouldnt that be less hard on your tranny? havine it shut off and then back on again? or would that just be worse? and maybe 4th would even dip into the window......
interesting.-Hawk<br /><br />===================================<br />Black 2001 Pontiac Firebird<br />Automatic Transmission Street Bird<br /><br /> <a href=\"http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/550453\" target=\"_blank\">http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/550453</a> <br /><br />\"Live like you were Dying\"

What you're talking is not arming the nitrous until 2nd gear? What would be the point of that? It'd be a very inefficient setup if you ask me. And I think spraying through the shift or half way through would be equally damaging on your tranny cuz the 2nd part of the shift is what matters, the first part is just disengagement. When the tranny actually hooks again in the next gear is where damage would occur, so your plan doesn't prevent that.
So I say, spray through and don't look back!2002 Black Firebird:<br />A4, Y87, W68, T-tops<br />Best NA ET: 15.16 @ 90<br /> <a href=\"http://members.cardomain.com/darksde02\" target=\"_blank\">http://members.cardomain.com/darksde02</a>

im saying set the switch so that you give yourself ample RPMS to get shifted to 2nd gear, your nitrous is already armed... then the window switch lets the nitrous flow and cuts it off before it shifts to third... whats the problem with that? you wait through first, but once the car shifts to second, the window set at the right RPM lets loose...ad shut off before the next shift to prevent tranny damage? why again will that cause more damage?-Hawk<br /><br />===================================<br />Black 2001 Pontiac Firebird<br />Automatic Transmission Street Bird<br /><br /> <a href=\"http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/550453\" target=\"_blank\">http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/550453</a> <br /><br />\"Live like you were Dying\"

You would still be within the window as soon as the car started to shift into 2nd so you're really just hurting your ET by cutting it off at higher RPMs. Nitrous will destroy your stock transmission in time, there's no way around that, might as well get the best runs while you can!!
As an old friend of mine once said, "you run it hard til **** breaks, then you fix it and do it again! i thought that the auto tranny was the same one used for the LS1s.... doesnt that mean that it can handle at least 300 hp? i dont see why it would give out so fast?-Hawk<br /><br />===================================<br />Black 2001 Pontiac Firebird<br />Automatic Transmission Street Bird<br /><br /> <a href=\"http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/550453\" target=\"_blank\">http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/550453</a> <br /><br />\"Live like you were Dying\"

The stock tranny... v6 or v8... won't hold up forever under nitrous.
I spray through all the gears.
On a wet kit, if you let off... and your nitrous is designed to turn off when you are no longer WOT... then it would not run richRace car - gone but not forgotten - 1997 firebird V6
