• I am faster NA than I am on spray

I got bored so me and a buddy went out to the backwoods and made a couple passes at the abandoned airport. (I know it is illegal but it really isn't street racing because we were not on a public road) He has a 2000 mustang GT with a catback and I was in my maro.

My PCM is tuned by intense, and it has like 32 degrees of total timing at WOT. I beat the mustang by about 1/2 carlength.

For the next pass, I plugged in my IAT resistor. Intense programmed my PCM so that when the IAT sees exactly 480 ohms at 68% throttle or greater, it will pull my total timing to 15*. I sprayed my 100 shot and got spanked by the mustang. It was wierd.

Usually I can really feel the nitrous kick in, but tonite i barely felt it. I guess my timing is TOO conservative.

I wish I had been at the track so I could get some real numbers about what happened. Unfortunatley, the track is closed for the winter.

i think the timing is too conservative man...i had the same problem when i first put in the powerdyne...had the timing pulled so much i could barely feel anything...then i took out the BTM completely and the car REALLY woke up...you should only need like 2* for a 100 shot (rule is 2* per 50hp..but in competition you can get away with 1* per 50...or 1* per 50 and add 1*)..i would start there

Yea, 15* total at WOT would be great for a 300 shot or so. If you get it to about 26* or so, the 100 shot should be great, especially if you run the premium gas!

yea dude, with the 100 shot you only need like 4* taken out. 15 is wayyyyyyyyyyyy overkill

I run stock timing.
I do not suggest that to anyone else though because I take other precautions.

You mentioned intense programmed your puter... they did it with HP tuners?

Um, don't spray until this is addressed

I am guessing that they did do it with HP tuners, but I don't know for sure. I ordered the PCM and they shipped it the same day, so they must have done the work in-house.

Bottle pressure: It was really cold that night and I don't have a bottle warmer. The last time I sprayed it was like 100* outside. I didn't think of that, but bottle pressure must have been very low. I am sure that contributed to the lack of power.

I have 3.23 rear axle ratio. The car get driven on the open kansas highway, so I won't upgrade gears untill I move back to the city.

Scott Cook (10 second GTP) did my PCM. When I ordered the PCM, I told him I wanted a dual mode tune. One mode for aggressive NA performance, and one mode for nitrous ops. I guess I overempasized the fact that the car is daily driven, because he made DAMN sure it will never blow up from nitrous.

I still have my stock PCM in the garage. I guess I will just use that for nitrous ops until I finish my next project.

They advanced my timing (and really retarted it), got rid of a few codes, and tweaked the fuel curve.

Intense sells HPT .BIN files for 100 bucks. THey go from mild to wild. That would be a good baseline for you to work with, although it is pricey.

http://www.intense-racing.com/

Click on the PCM/Electronics link on the left side of the page, then click on BINARY FILES. it is the 3rd one down. You should get one custom one from them and then tweak it as you see fit.

Back to business....

My bottle pressure is too low and I don't have nearly enough timing. I can either get back to square one and start using cheap tricks to advance my timing, or swap in my regular stock pcm everytime I want to spray.

Or I could put in a really huge shot like Onequickv6 said. What is the jet # for a 300 shot? I want to see if those $600 pistons are worth the money

James, you said that you run stock timing but you take other precautions? I am about to get my TNT kit within a week or so and set it up, what should I do to keep stock timing? and what kind of disadvantage am i going to get?

Why would ANYBODY spend any money with a company that doesn't welcome your phone calls, much less ALOT of money?? That blows my mind, seriously!

And Jeff (Malice), although te 300 shot would be fun, a stock or even ehat treated crank and the rods are going to be pissed about a 300 shot!
