• Too much Nitrous

I have been runnig a 75 wet shot in my car for awhile. With the new cam, springs, and push rods, I figured I would try a 100 shot. I waited untill I had the car tuned just right N/A. Last night I put in the jets for the 100 shot and went for a spin.

I tried it first in 2nd gear. When the window switch enabled at 3400 rpms, the street tires just cut lose. I had to back off. It was amazing. I am already planning on getting Drag Radial so this was no big deal.

Then I tried it in 3rd gear. This time it was not the tires that would not hold, it was the clutch. As soon as the NO hit, the engine just went right to red line. I did it twice, same results. I guess the stock clutch can not handle the cam and a 100 shot. The clutch is not worn out, I made a few N/A runs and it holds fine.

I guess I will go with a Spec Stage 3 clutch. That should hold me for awhile.

That is a real nice trap speed. My goal is to break into the centruy mark NA, whether it is 13's or not. I think that right now I would probably trap at about 95 or so at 14.7 or something like that. It ain't good enough no more.

Yes, you will like the spec 3 stage 3. It takes a little bit to get used to the chatter but its a small price to pay. :D

i would try it in 2nd gear with drag radials...see how that works out...im not sure how well nitrous works with the X-P hot cam ..i dont have a cam and the one im looking at now is just the GT cam...also...you mentioned you had it tuned just RIGHT NA ..however...that may be just WRONG for nitrous use...you may want to talk to malice ...he is addressing a similar issue with his car...he is running a cam and nitrous and also has HP Tuners

The N/A tune is basically getting A/F to 12.8-13.0 and pushing the spark as far as possible without knock.

Then with Nitrous, I change the fuel nozzle to get about 12.0 AFR (with the 100 shot I started with a nozzle that was giving me 10.9 AFR, once I can start testing again, I will decrease the nozzle until I hit that 12.0 number).

The spark is the same way. I just test and take away spark until there is no Kock Retard.

Not too hard.

Oh, the X-P Hot Cam LOVES the juice. I just need traction!!! (so I can find the next week spot in the car....if it breaks, thats the weak spot).

And you might be right, but like I said, if it breaks, then thats the weak spot.

Just like some redneck once said

"If it breaks, it probably needed to be replaced anyway!"

What trans are you running?

Right now none because I broke 3rd gear on my.. I have had the stage 3 clutch in it for about 3 months and the tranny finnally gave out.. I was spraying a 125 shot on it and you see how much torque I have through it.. You should be close or over 500 ftlbs at the wheels with the 100 shot.. I called around to all the Tranny places in the Gm magazines to see if they build 5 speeds and the same answer I got from all.. Go automatic and save your money.. So I found this tranny place in NJ That builds up 4l60e's for 1200 dollars that will hold up to 650ftlbs of tq.. Thats what I am going to get..

Ive been spraying a 150 shot for like umm 5 months now, anyways my clutch has held fine up until 2 weeks ago it went out. So I replaced it with a Centerforce D/F.

The new clutch now only has about 150 miles on it. I cant wait to get it going and broke in. My car only has 58k miles.

My car has done what you were talking about, but I just stop and redo it again and it holds just fine

My last dyno was 361rwhp and 452ft lbs. with stock injectors stock pump stock tune stock internals stock rear end everyhing on my car is stock cept for what is in the sig.

I have a camshaft sitting in my room. 206/212 512º/520º 114 Im not sure if I want to do the cam swap. Im not very mechanical inclined. However If I did put it in Im sure that my hp would be like WHOA!

Well, the clutch held good enough with the 75 shot to give me a new best time.

13.627 @ 104.79

The new clutch is on its way and then next month some Drag Radials. With some traction and a 100 shot, I think this car has some 12s in her.

So, stock clutch can't hold the power.

Auto > manual :D sorry

Don't run drags yet
Lower that shot to 75

Once you have the clutch then up to the 100.

I had my tranny sent out, by a shop in nj, built for a 10 second car (600+-hp) and cost me $1200.

A shop in LI did the rebuild.

Jeff, got info on your place?

I just finished the Clutch install. It's a Spec Stage 3. My back is killing me after two days of lying in my back on the floor of my garage. Car runs fine. Hope to put 500 miles on it and hit the track in a week and a half. I will try the 100 shot and see what the tires do. After X-mas, some DRs are definatly in the plans. I already have some extra wheels to mount them on.
