OK i did some research here in OK and seeing that i am an insurance agent i called a bunch of people and found that most places won't insure an "altered" vehicle, meaning nitrous. i am waiting on a call back from one more place about the subject though i will post my results.
^^well first you gotta get past the police right at the scene...i used to street race a LOT...thats why i put my tank right behind me so if there was ever an accident...and i was still alive lol...i could unhook it really quick...the wrench sat in the center console...then its up to them to PROVE the nitrous was connected when the accident happened ;)

I can see it now.. blood running down your face, your arm half gone, messing around with the nitrous bottle with the one good arm you have left. The cop walks up to the car and you say, "I swear, it wasn't hooked up."
About the parents thing..... Tell em to watch the first 10min of 2 fast 2 furious and let them enjoy the purging of nitrous!! Just tell em u want it to purge... For looks... Tell em youll use CO2 and not nitrous but just get tank filled with Nitrous when they aint lookin...

Is your dad a car guy. If so then let him drive it and hit the bottle. That will solve that problem. If he is not a car guy, then take it off and not use it until you move out and get your own insurance. Don't tell the insurance company anything. You can also lie to your parents then hide it.
PS. my son just hooked up the nitrous on the mustang, finally.
Get the nitrous, and keep the bottle out of the car when daily driving. Install bottle before you leave for the track. Don't use on streets.
That way it wont effect your insurance, because insurance normally doesn't cover what happens on the track , and you shouldn't be using it on the streets of Cali anyway. Strict Laws in Cali allow for the police to take and destroy your car for any type of street racing.
what about if i just have it in the car and hooked up but if they pop the hood and check, the actual jets are disconnected? does that fall under "hooked up" rules or not, I want to know so that i can just make up a cool little setup where all i have to do is pop in the jets and be off, perhaps nothing more than a quick disconnect hose or somthing... its not illegal to have in the car, but they say its illegal to have hooked up, i want to read the real law.

I can't seem to find the rule against nitrous, but I did learn that you can't lower a car to where any part of the body is lower than the lowest part of the rim. Interesting info in there.
The goal of insurance companies is to not pay off any claims. By doing this they just get "free money" from people like you and me.
The more they pay out the more they get. The average prudent citizen thinks racing cars is dumb, wreckless, and do it for no good reason other then dick measuring.
So if you tell insurance they will use it as an excuse to slow down or not pay your claims.
