• Tr6 plug question, yes i searched

I did a search and didnt come up with the answer i wanted...

    I have heard two things

    1. TR6's are THE way to go with nitrous hands down, i have seen at least 100 posts

    2. Some guy whos good with nitrous on this board (forget the name) said that he uses TR55s with no issues...

my question is, i know that TR6's are colder plugs, but if your running N/A, how does it affect your gas mileage/driveability/peformance/engine in general?

I wont be able to go to the track very often and this is my daily driver, so If i get new plugs, they must meet these requirements

-Can be used N/A or while running Nitrous
-Can be used with 87 octane and 92+ octane

are tr6s the plugs for me?

also, can i run 91 octane. i think thats all i have availiable here :(

i've run both of them in my car gapped at .035 ...the TR6s seem to hold up just a little better...they can be used with regular or premium fuel..some say that with a colder plug gapped closer together you will lose maybe a couple horses..and possibly run a little bit richer..personally i see/feel NO difference at all...91 octane would be ok for a 75 shot..any higher and you wanna go with 92+

at WOT, while NA, the difference in a TR55 and a TR6 (A/F and power alike) will be so negligible that noone can tell the difference, especially not on our cars!

If you're gonna spray them, go TR6, period.

i always look at my plugs when i change them to see how im running..you can tell by looking at them how rich or lean you are running..oil on them would be very..VERY..BAD..both the TR55s and the TR6s would come out looking good..but in my opinion the TR6s would look just a little less..used...a little less worn..and like OneQuickV6 said you cannot even notice the difference..so i wouldnt even worry about that..definitely go with the TR6s

Nitrous and racing makes your mileage worse, every time, no exceptions. Your plugs, between a Tr55 and a Tr6, will not make a noticeable difference in your mileage. You're doing a serious race mod...and there is always a compromise (sp?) between performance and economy. Live with it, or sell the kit is my take on the whole thing.

All of us who spray deal with this every day, and your car is no different. At worst, a half mile per gallon decrease in economy isn't going to break your bank..if it will, sell the kit, you have better things to spend your money on!

another reason i switched to just juice...premium gas ALL the time...or only when you hit up the track
