sweeeet..thanks! ..i'll have to see if i can find someone around here that does the porting..cuz otherwise it wuold be the cost of SSM heads PLUS labor..$250 is a LOT better than around $1000..my last question..and this may be more advanced so feel free to move it if need be..is the tuning..if i went with a cam id just get a custom intense racing file and run premium fuel..but what sort of tuning is required to compensate for P&P heads/intakes?..do you have to run premium fuel at all times?..thanks again!

I was always running min 93 octane.

You have a modified car... and .. you run nitrous on it... why would you put ANYTHING else besides 93?

I've refered you to east coast supercharging for engine/ nitrous work

      They did my car.

Why chance it w/ reg in there?

Do you run the tank empty and fill up w/ super EVERY single time you spray?

Prob not.... not 100% reg out of tank.

          Don't chance it

i run 95 (i can get it locally at the pump) and i never put less than 93 in. man if you really care about the car it will be worth the 3$ extra at the pump. in a car you care about its (in my opinion) a neseccity to run premium. i had a crappy geo storm but i only ran premium in it and i never had a problem with the car. i put 60,000 miles on that car and in 3 years, and it STILL runs great. its worth the money. please for the sake of your camaro run premium.
help me build the ultimate sleeper soon ill have a lot more mods than i can list and watch out for the spikes. 02 firebird

The problem with only runnig 93 at the track is that the car gets use to the 87 Octane and runs off the Low Octane Table. Then when you put in the 93 Octane, the car takes so long to "learn" the higher Octane that you get no benifit. Just run 93 all the time and you will find your car performing a lot better.

Also, always buy from the big guys. People say there is no difference but there is. If you don't believe me try a little test (you will need scanning software to do this). DO NOT SHOOT NITROUS WHILE YOUR CAR IS SET UP FOR THIS TEST. Advance your timing about 6 degrees in every cell and copy your high octane table to your low octane table. Now run a tank of Race Track (or other off brand) 93 Octane. Watch your KR. You will see that you have a lot. Then run a tank of Chevron, Exxon, Ammoco, or other big name gas. You will see the amount of KR reduce. I have tried this with a few tanks of each and the difference really suprised me. After the test, return the car to your normal tune.

how long does it really take to learn new octane? Anyone figure this out before? I figure it probably takes like a couple gallons maybe, but could it be longer for the computer to recognize the change?

I was doing some searches in the nitrous forums also about octane booster, like the nx and nos kinds, I noticed people were kind of against them back in like 2003 when they were discussing them. Is the general consensus yet to not use them because they still mess your solenoids up?

Also what if you find a kind without that certain crap in it that makes something in your solenoids expand?

This is some interesting discussion and wondered about the octane boosters as well since I have seen them in stores and such.

I do not know how long it takes to "learn" a new fuel. This was a topic at HPTuners.com but no one ever came up with a definitive answer. I think the V8 guys can adjust how quickly it reacts and can see how far towards one of the table the PCM is reading but us V6ers have no such control.

Dunno about how long it would take to "learn"... drive around for a week? Normal driving.

As for octane boosters..... ones with nitromethane cause swelling of the plungers in the nitrous solenoids.

                        Don't run them.
