I'm just about to order a dry nos kit 5175, however I was just wondering, do you guys know if it comes with any safety gear like a WOT switch ect.., or if it's just the basic setup itself?

it comes with a WOT switch..fuel pressure safety switch..and a blow down tube..this is still the kit im running today (except with Cheater solenoids)..and is the kit i would recommend to anyone getting into nitrous..you'll want a couple accessories like a psi gauge, bottle heater, and a purge is always nice 12 SECOND DUAL STAGE DRY NITROUS POWERED 98 A4 V6 CAMARO
www.MySickCamaro.50megs.com
Best ET: 12.82@103
Best MPH: 104.7
Best 60\': 1.75 - Stock TC

quote:
Originally posted by Shodown:
1DV6 runs 12\'s...enough said.

5175 comes with everything you need to run nitrous "fairly" safely on our cars, although I have heard of a few shipping without a fuel pressure safety switch.
Other than that for safety you want NGK TR6 plugs gapped at .035 and make sure your car is running 100% properly before spraying it.
Like 1dv6 mentions purge and heater will make it a lot more consistent.

Mine came w/o a FPSS.... adn I had to order one after the fact.... but that was many years ago.
FPSS and WOT is included.
Bottle warmer, blanket, nitrous psi guage... etc are good additions.Race car - gone but not forgotten - 1997 firebird V6

Alright, that's awesome. I'm glad it comes with mostly everything I'll need. I ordered the kit today, now I have to wait for 8-10 buisness days for it to get here, so in the mean time I figured I'd do some maintenance in preperation for it. I have a tiny trickle of oil leaking from somewhere, (not even enough to drip onto the ground) that I'm getting looked at this week, a little tune up and I should be ready to go. I'm very excited.
Thanks for your input guys. I'll definately get some of the other accessories you mentioned, I just have to decide what to get right away. The n20 psi guage will probably be a must, and I know that a bottle warmer will make it more consistant, but how much variation can there be without one? I'm going to look up the price, but I think I will get one because it makes sense that every time you spray you want to get the most out of it.
Thanks for the advice guys. 1997 Firebird, A4,WS6 Ram air hood, edelbrock catback, SLP CAI, 85 dry shot
1981 Firebird Trans Am

http://members.cardomain.com/dreaded_hope

the difference between 800 psi and 1150 psi can be around 30 horses..to the wheels..i believe it was 1998silverbird who saw these results on a dyno12 SECOND DUAL STAGE DRY NITROUS POWERED 98 A4 V6 CAMARO
www.MySickCamaro.50megs.com
Best ET: 12.82@103
Best MPH: 104.7
Best 60\': 1.75 - Stock TC

quote:
Originally posted by Shodown:
1DV6 runs 12\'s...enough said.

30 rwhp? Wow, definately getting the bottle heater, and possibly blanket, (I'm mounting the bottle in the wheel well spare tire location). What kind of temp is the bottle supposed to be kept at?
It's kind of funny now that I think about it. Both me and 1dangerousv6 used to have the powerdyne setup, and have since switched to N20. *L* Oh well, I'm pretty excited to try it out, this 2 weeks will feel like an eternity!1997 Firebird, A4,WS6 Ram air hood, edelbrock catback, SLP CAI, 85 dry shot
1981 Firebird Trans Am

http://members.cardomain.com/dreaded_hope

See, nitrous is better than blower!
Bottle heater... in the summer... may not be that high on the list when compared to the nitrous guage.
I'd get the guage first...... cause summer heat will get that bottle psi up VERY highRace car - gone but not forgotten - 1997 firebird V6

I was looking around for a Nitrous guage, but being as the bottle will be mounted in my spare tire wheel well I'm thinking it would be best to have a guage on my A pillar for my NO2 pressure so I can actually monitor it without having to run back, take off the interior panel and look (which is what I would have to do if I got the NOS guage that you can get that attaches right to the bottle itself). I was searching on here and see that you really dont reccomend a mechanical guage, and I see why, it makes sense. However just looking around in my local performance shop, and on jegs.com I can't really find any that have an electronic sender. Is that type of guage kind of a special order thing? I'm looking for one with a black face, and that can light up red (to match the rest of my interior).
As for the whole nitrous>FI debate, I'm really excited to test it out so I can throw in my .02! It gets here mid next week, however I have a very slight leak on my rear main seal and engine oil pan gasket, which would probably be smart for me to look after before I try spraying for the first time even though they are minor now.
Nachius: Just curious, what made you want to try a SC and a turbo?1997 Firebird, A4,WS6 Ram air hood, edelbrock catback, SLP CAI, 85 dry shot
1981 Firebird Trans Am

http://members.cardomain.com/dreaded_hope

This is the gauge I have in my car and I love it.
http://www.cardomain.com/item/ATM4774
when you buy autometer non indiglo gauge they usually come with light bulb covers green, and red. So pretty much most of all the gauges you'll be able to have it lighted red. I forget what I paid for my gauge at the time but cardomain will beat any competitors price, just do a search, I would start with froogle.com.
I would also Invest in a window switch in my opinion it's #1 on the saftey percaution list. I've bounced off the rev limiter a few times while spraying and wouldn't even want to think about what would of happened without it.

I shouldn't have to worry too mouch about bouncing off the rev limiter being as my car is an auto, and I never manually shift it.
As for the bulbs, I still have a bulb wired up where my boost gauge used to be, however I wasn't sure about which series of autometer gauges used that system for lighting, so that would be a good thing to be able to just plug it in and go. That is a pretty good price for the gauge also, I'll have to compare around here and see if with the exchange rate if it'd still be cheaper to order online or not. Thanks for the advice.
