i've noticed what some call "backfires(nitrous)" that they seem to vary in the damage department.

Mine was minor. It burned up my MAF, MAF screen, and paper air cleaner. It also damaged the air box a little. I was able to drive it home from the track with the MAF unplugged.

This biggest backfire I had cought my airbox on fire and caused my car to stall.. I use Dryer ducting so when I do have a backfire it only blows up the Ducting.. It works awesome but that one backfire was very bad.. It was because I had a fouled plug.. I have had a $hit load of backfires do to me missing gears or hitting rev limiter or speed limiter.. On the 50 and 75 shot the backfires went out my exaust, but on the 90and 125 it backfires through the intake..

so you'd agree there are two distinct levels to categorize this : a pre-intake backfire and a post-throttle backfire? post=worst one. i dont know just figured since it wasnt clear to me way back when i started learning bout nitrous.

Me, 3 categories:
1) sneeze (backfire but I'm still racing)
2) backfire (parts blown apart but no fire)
3) holy hell ( broken parts, fire, car dead/ limps off track)

Video looked like #1 in my scale

I've had many #1's
Several #2's
And.... 1-3 #3's

The last #3 caused the following damage:
2 air filters gone
couple plugs
tb screen gone
retainer ring for tb screen
maf
intake ducting
rubber elbow for slp intake
plastic elbow into brake booster
plastic piece for map on pass side intake

Explosion was heard 1/2 to 3/4 mile away. I saw fire from left and right side of hood and base of windshield

Based on that scale, I have seen a 3+.

Intake manifold in multiple peices, hood dented, and lots of burned stuff. It was bad.

Not sure of exact circumstances on that one, everyone I have seen (of not too many) has been at the line though.

Yeah, I always laugh at how quick he bailed when I watch that.

I've seen that vette one before on another board. I was told that the guy who bailed out wasnt even the owner...
