okay here is a refresh of the topic
http://www.camarov6.com/ubb/ultimate...=001769#000000

okay the problem was the header gasket. which is a good thing. the mech brought another problem that my valvetrain is going bad. well i told them that i want p&p. how much would it cost to fix the valvetrain and install p&p. he said $2000.  is that a good price

$2,000 for what?

And.... valvetrain going bad? What specifically?

Elaborate on this... and we procede from there.

I mentioned that i wanted p&p and what would be the cost for labor. After he made a estimate he then mentioned my valvetrain needed repair.$2000 for installtion for port and polish, cams, and repair the valvetrain.

what seemed fishy when my header gasket was repaired my car was running normal like it did before. how do you know the valve train is running correctly or when there is a problem

p&p for my car got done the same time as the gears, posi, cam, valve job, fuel injectors, etc. for installion alot i payed 1800. but that was a rip off. when i went to the shop the first time they gave me an estm. of 1200. so you know i was pissed when they gave me the bill. shop around and never go to langhorn speed shop in pa! heheheheh

I would ask them specifically what is wrong in the valvetrain.

You can get a complete set of ported and polished heads ready to bolt on for a little over a $1000, then labor to put heads on still won't total another $1000 so that is a HIGH estimate.

Yes, ask specifically what is wrong.

And please.... don't tell me he wants to install cams?!?!?!?!

BTW, you have only one cam

We make all our power with an (one) in block cam and 2 valves percylinder. Just like God intended.
If these were DOCH engings the cylinder heads would be huge, there would be 4 cams total and there would be a stupid timeing belt.
And a cam change would cost about $1000.
We do more with one cam and 12 valves then most people with 2 cams and 16 valves.

for me $2000 is way to much. he didn't mentioned what was wrong. can a 35 shot affect the valvetrain. I hope i can find a shop for labor much cheaper.
