• Tried my nitrous for the first time

I had been waiting for my TR6 plugs to be in before I tried the nitrous for the first time. This Sunday I threw the plugs in and went to give it a try, however nothing happened. So I tried some trouble shooting and bypassed my FPSS, and it worked. I was searching a little and see that there are a few people who have had crappy FPSS's that wouldn't work also, so I'm not sure what I'll have to do, probably order another.

Anyhow, the first time trying it was SOOO awesome! I floored it until I was in second gear around 4500, and then hit the switch. It pulled really hard, I was definately impressed. I had heard from alot of people that you can't really feel even a 75 shot too much, but having it just kick in like that you could really feel it.

I was planning on taking it to the track this friday to see what kind of times I can pull down. I don't have a N2O pressure gauge yet, or a bottle heater, do you guys have any tips for me to get the most out of my passes? Any advice anyone has would be really appreciated.

I could not feel the 50 shot, but when I went to a 70 shot I knew it was there!

Don't up the shot until you know EVERYTHING is working perfect!

i love nitrous. just wait till you work your way up to 100 shot or more.

also you want to check your fuel pressure before you up your shot. you might need a new fuel system soon. good luck and just make sure that you don't move to fast. it took me over a year to move up to a 100 shot.

that is what everyone will say. TAKE IT SLOW!

also check to see if you need to adjust your FPSS. I know I can adjust mine, so maybe yours is adj. to high or something.

I'm not looking to up the shot for quite awhile. There is still much more for me to do before I decide to go bigger, like headers, 3.73's, high flow cat converter, and probably a little tuning. That stuff isn't on the agenda until at least next year, so for now I'm extremely happy with the 75 shot. To be honest, all I really want to do is be able to beat a stock WS6 TA from my model year, perhaps an LS1 eventually. ;)

Another thing I love about nitrous is the fact that it's probably alot easier on my drivetrain than my SC was, simply because I'll only be using it maybe once a week or so, as opposed to FI which you can't ever turn off.

97RS4life: How did you adjust your FPSS? I dont see anything on it which would allow me to adjust anything.

75 shot. that is kinda alot for a starter shot. you might want to think about taking it down to a 50 shot

Like everyone is saying start with the lowest shot possible to check everything once you see that everything is running right then start moving up, get a fuel pressure gauge on there and see what your running at. My fuel pump recently took a dump and would dip down to about 10 PSI at WOT once I hit 4k RPMs

if the fpss is working right and you have a fuel pressure issue I wouldn't hit the nitrous again until it's fixed.

I'm just spraying what jet came with the 5175 NOS kit. I had assumed it was a 75 shot. Is that correct?
As far as the FPSS goes, I'll have to find out why it's not working, although my fuel pump wouldn't be the problem as I have a newer one in (in for less than 6 months), and as of late N/A I had been hitting all new bests at the track, so I dont think it's starved for fuel. No unusual signs or anything.

With a 75 shot you should be able to beat up a stock 97 LT1.. Good luck with it..

you might need a new fuel system like a walbo, so that you get enough fuel and your not dumping
