  • LS1 VS L36

If I were to put a 100 shot of nitrous on my l36 I would have 300 at the motor compared to the 305 of the LS1 but I would have both a lighter car and motor with 3.42 gears were the trans am doesnt have that gearing (not the one I was looking at any way) would I stand a chance in a race?? Im new and retarded to this stuff, sorry! Be gentle
Why hop up a V6, cuz $724 a month for insurance is a little steep.

ARRR.... Do you have any modifacations?

Read up on Nitrous some more before you plan to just spray a stock car (assuming your car is stock?). If you plan on running nitrous through your car you need to have some deep pockets. I think you need to plan on some supporting mods, exhaust intake before "throwing" nitrous on your car.

Just read up on the forums some to learn more about it and other poeples set up. I still wouldnt think a 100 shot alone would get you low 14's high 13's on a stock car.

You better have some deep pockets to rebuild that engine after you run nitrous threw it enough times though.

I have an air charger kit from KandN, catback exhaust from flowmaster, hypertech programmer with various things from that(the timing would have to be taken off). and a 180* thermo. Most of the research I have done shows that 50%of the normal horsepower the car makes should be safe as long as Im not spraying it or using it like an idiot all the time.

Alright, good you've been reading and have some mods. Post in the Nitrous forum and those guys should be able to help you with what you want to set up.

I'll never run nitrous threw my car though, I don't like it. Whats power if you can only use it for a few seconds? Good luck

Good point, I was just looking for a somewhat quick and inexpensive way to gain some good horsepower at the push of a button. I use my bird as a daily driver and wouldnt have time or money to put it under the knife.

well most ls1's dyno around 300 at the wheels.
you could take a lt1 though.
oh and auto ls1's auto =2.73's and optional 3.23's(RPO code GU5)
not sure of the manuals. aslo 01 and 02 ls1's are the quickest of the breed.

How much $ do you have into yours, I was just looking at it on cardomain and that is sharp and clean as hell.

Nitrous is safe. Just use safety gear.

Window switch being the main one.

If you run 75-100hp shots, make sure you have a good fuel system (new filter, enough pump pressure, etc.).

Also, run a wet system, cause hell, that's just safer. 91 octane with a little 101 shouldn't hurt, in fact it would be nice to keep you from having detonation.

I bought a wet system a few months ago and put it on my friend's 96 mustang v6. It took off a second and a half with just the 50 shot (17.4 to 16) on an all stock car. With the 75 shot he is running 15.6's, but his launches could be much better. With the full 100 shot, lightened car, and a good launch, it's possible he could hit a 14.999.

Now, with your car, if you hook up well, you should be a lot further into the 14s (or 13s). You will have a lot better 60ft than he has, and you will have more power overall. With a 100 shot, stock LT1s shouldn't be too hard, and with with drags you might do an LS1. It just depends on drivers/60fts, etc.

check out my cardomain. that is everything that i have done. and i'm putting 311 to the rear wheel. youhave to remember that you lose 15% of your hp going from your motor to your rear wheel.

just take it slow. don't put 100 shot in there off the back. or your going to end up like 1dangerousv6. start with a 50 shot, keep it like that for a few months, then a 75 shot, same thing, then the 100 shot. your also going to have to get some tuning if you plan on getting the full 100 hp out of the 100 shot. before my tune i was get 76 hp out of the 100 shot. now i got the whole 100. there is alot to do. but it will be worth it when you can beat, trans am, mustang gts, mach 1's, ss, z28's etc
