  • New Guy to N2O!!--Got a kit

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...MEWA%3AIT&rd=1

Closing the deal on this kit, made a deal with the guy for 350 bucks for the whole deal. Comes with everything- the 5175 NOS kit, new mounting brackets, different switches, and purge kit.

There may be a few items I need to buy, but ill figure that out when i get it in the mail.

He did say that when he bought the kit last summer from summit that it was missing a jet, and he has no idea what jet it is. So i figure im gunna want that jet and figure it out, but have no idea where to buy it or how to figure out what size it is????

Any comments, advise, or help would be great.....

always beware of people "selling stuff for a friend"

jets will be easy to find, you dont need the sizes that came with the kit, just determine the size you want and buy that one.

install instructions and parts lists are posted at the top of this forum.

welcome to the nitrous club, we still need to cruise together sometime. As for the jets, just look for what shot you want to run and the jets, if you don't have the jets just order some. I just recently got my 100 shot jets for mine.

i believe kit 5175 comes with two 42 jets..one for the bypass tee and one for the standard 85 shot..you can get them by going to www.summitracing.com and searching on this part number: NOS-13760-42NOS ..i would get the following jets:

        30 jet - 50 shot NOS-13760-30NOS
        36 jet - 75 shot NOS-13760-36NOS
        42 jet - 85 shot NOS-13760-42NOS
        52 jet - 100 shot NOS-13760-52NOS

remember to get NGK TR6 spark plugs gapped at .035 ..and run an aftermarket pump on anything over a 75 - 85 shot

Thanks for all the help so far, the guy is going to call me today and let me know he got payment and is shipping it out.

And I was skeptical of the whole selling for a friend too, but i emailed "the freind" and talked to him a few times, and he gave me some tips too.

Ill have to look at what you guys said with the jets and it would be nice to get 50, 75, 85, 100 jets too.

Thanks for the help, im sure there will be more questions later.

You are going to want to get a bottle heater too, seeing that you live in MI and winter is approaching. I just put my kit on a few weeks ago and I found out recently that it is basically worthless after the temp gets down around 60.

You'll also want to get a pressure gauge to be sure that you're bottle pressure is where you want it (around 950)
                    Old Car = 12.679 @ 106.5 on 150 dry shot.
                    New Car = 2010 3.6l 304hp Camaro

I actually just started looking at bottle heaters too. Even though I dont drive the car in the winter , Im sure it is nice on cooler days.

For the pressure gauge- he is sending one with the kit, but its on the bottle, and it would be nice to have something right in front of me. Im thinking about getting one of those dual/tripple gauge pillars, and put it in there.

What gauges would everyone recommend to put it there, the most useful ones?

Also trying to find out where I want to put te bottle, he said he had it between the back seats, but ive seen others in place of the back seat, on the hatch flat part in the back, or where the spare goes.

I guess ill figure that out sometime too?? I just want it easy to access while on the street.

I have my bottle between the back two seats on that little hump.

As for gauges, I have a triple gauge pillar with Autometer Phantom fuel pressure, trans temp, and A/F gauge (really pointless). You could put a nitrous gauge in place of the A/F one, but they are expensive. See my cardomain site for pics of gauges.

Let me know if you are interested in a heater, pillar and gauges, I can get them for a pretty good price

I threw mine where my spare was, very clean install. I find it's just as easy to pull the top of the interior panel back, reach in and open the bottle as it would be to open it if it were mounted in the trunk. I don't have to actually take the panel off to turn the botlle on, plus this way I keep all my trunk space and a place to put my t-tops as well.

Check all the threads with "!" on them.

I get nervous when people buy nitrous kits off e bay.

I see no where on the link a list of all included parts.

When the kit arrives please list all parts recieved.

                              Best of luck!
