I need some info on why my car backfired when i pushed the button this time. I was racing a 1980's T/A w/ some corvette parts in the motor. Before we ran i just tapped the button for a sec to get a nice burnout going but nothing bad there. The problem lies when i was racing and i hit the nitrous again at 3000 rpm and my motor back fired blew my maf screen apart sucked it back into the motor while the mojority of it got stuck in my throttle plate so i couldnt let off the throttle.
It is a NX EFI wet system w/ a 75 shot nozzle is placed in the side of my tb. I ran the wet system before the tb w a 50 shot w no problems other than running extremely rich.
As of now i have my motor torn down to the lower intake checking for problems and peices of maf screen.

was it floored when you sprayed?

Get a wot switch, window switch and a purge.

maybe there was some puddled from the burnout shot. You shouldn't use the nitrous for a burnout. You might of left some in the tb or something and then that is what caused the backfire

i actually use the nitrous for burnouts but i run a dry kit..i would certainly not recommend it on a wet kit..you either had some fuel puddled in the intakes..or you're having a lean condition..id recommend a window switch and checking out your fuel system to make sure its all good and you're not running lean

You hit the gas too hard, and the nitrous couldnt keep up with the flow of fuel and puddled. Its happend to me about 90 times not joking. You just have to be above 3k rpms and not ROMPING on the gas, you have to roll into it.

No, when you activate your nitrous, and immediatly punch the gas be it below or slightly above 3k the car will backfire, you have to either roll into the nitrous or be at like 4k to be dead on with not having to deal with a backfire. Just dont go from 3k off the gas, and do a 3 honk rolling start and punch the gas, that **** causes the backfire. You have to either be above 3k or roll into it. A window switch set to 3.3k would be perfect.

I had a bad backfire once, and it blew my maf up, I dont know where it went. I assume it went into the motor. But I could care less. It would just pass right through the motor and out of the exhaust ports...

Oh, and the leading cause of backfires...... LOW BOTTLE PRESSURE!

If you had a WOT switch it shouldn't matter how you get into the throttle. WOT is WOT weather you're flooring it or rolling into it. With the switch your system won't activte until the pedal is to the mat, regardless how long it takes you to put it there.

Sorry i dont have a computer so it takes me a while to answer. I have a wot swith and another button swith. I used the nitrious to get the burnout going maybe 2 seconds at the very most. then i let the motor pull itself for a little and then stopped. We raced from a dead stop i was at full throttle when i hit the button at around 3000 rpm right away it back fired. As of right now i almost have my heads off i just wanted to make sure the maf screen didnt ruin anything. It also gives me a good excuse to get some work done like pp heads and a cam. thanks for the help.

I dont have a purge kit or window switch. Plugs should be good i just put NGK TR6 plugs in. The only thing i could think of was there being air in the line or if there was some fuel puddled up in the intake. Bottle pressure was also good about 920psi. That night was the first time i used the nitrious since i got the bottle refilled. Been about a month since last used. Who else has port & polished heads and who should i go with? abbott, zzperformance, ssm? there was also a guy in this months camaro performers magazine that ported some heads on a '00 3.8. Im still thinking about a cam too. Nitrious or NA cam and what grinds?
