• complete nitrous kit and questions help please

    what website can I go to find a complete nitrous kit for my 3.8 98 camaro. I would like the most popular dry kit that I can get maximum horsepower from. Im not fully decided on if Im going to get one or not but I need it just in case I do. I know I have the other option of a supercharger so any suggestions will be good for me like will this kill my motor so please help me out.I got my black halo headlights installed today by the mechanic that does all my mechanical work for me they looked good but he had a 2000 mustang gt with the exhaust coming out the bumper that he was working on he was adding a turbo charger to it and it looked good so I figured its time for me to get some more speed to.He told me that whatever horsepower option I choose he would hook it up for me so its either powerdyne or nos but Im really thinking about nos since its nothing that I would use everyday thanks for any help.

    Do some research to what you think the car can handle. You can go with a popular brand like NOS, Nitrous Express or Zex, or you could try a smaller company with factory direct prices like www.nitrousdirect.com Cold Fusion or Dynotune nitrous www.dynotunenitrous.com.

    Do your research for the supporting safety mods like a window switch, pressure guage, etc. It all depends on what kind of setup you want (dry, wet, direct port).

        nitrous can be your best friend or your worst enemy..gotta either know what you're doing or really not care..do a little more research..check out the posts at the top of this section..get a better understanding of what nitrous really is and how it works..then come back with some questions that are a little more specific

          thanks alot 1dangerousv6 you just made up my decison for me powerdyne powerdyne baby. I came up with my decison from checking people's post and reading whats been going on with there car I wanted to go with nos because I thought it would be cheaper but filling up the bottle will probaly come out to the price or surpass it but I appreciate all the help. I always wanted to know what it was like to be in a car with nos then push the button and get that adrealine rush but I guess not.

            I love my nitrous. hitting that button and letting it fly. Also I don't need to run premium fuel all the time like a sc. It would be nice having the constant power though.

              Even if you spent $1000 on a nitrous setup, at $40 per 10 lb bottle it would take 75 refills to equal $4000, which is around what you're going to spend on a powerdyne SC

                    Good point.

                    The NOS 5175 kit not only comes with all the safety gear (excluding window switch, but I have an A4), but also, I paid under 900 for it.

                    And just to give you an idea eric head, last summer I think I filled my bottle 4 times, that's me using it to go to the track once every 2 weeks (4 runs each time) and occasionally on the street if I found a good race or even just to show people how it worked. At that rate that's almost 19 years of nitrous for the price of the Powerdyne. Not to mention in my experiance anyways, my gains from the juice were alot better than they were with the SC (both me and 1dv6 have had both N20 and the powerdyne).

                    For a dry setup alot of people on this board (as well as myself) will reccomend the NOS5175 kit to start out with. It's a dry 85 shot with alot of safety gear for a good price.

                        </font>
im looking to put a kit on my car too. from what ive read, you need supporting mods before you spray (not absolutely necessary, but recommended) like better intake, headers, catback, along with gapped spark plugs. I probably forgot a few but someone will hopefully expand on that. a window switch activates your nitrous between certain RPM's, like if you have a window switch with 3200 and 5500 RPM plug ins, the nitrous will only activate between those RPMs
