  • tubular manifolds good enough?

I hear that you are supposed to get headers and a new exhaust for nitrous, but will the tubular manifolds that come on my car do the same job? I already have an exhaust, and was planning on installing headers as well, but once i read that im going to see little gains over stock, i dont think i want to do it anymore.

Your tubular manifolds are just fine. Headers on your car will not gain you anything. I have been using my stock non-tubular manifolds on my car with my nitrous. Just have catback exhaust and air intake and you will be fine.

Your stock manifolds are almost as good as the aftermarket shorty headers so i suggest sticking with them.

I did some research some time ago in the exhaust forum there should be a post about the size of the primaries on stock, Pacesetter, RKSport, and CIA headers.

Found Pacesetter and RKSport primaries to be the largest, although the differance for an N/A Application would be minimal, it is my belief that for Nitrous the better the flowing the exahust the faster you will be.

Found my post here were the results.

This is the size of the primaries.
Stock Tubulars are just under 1.25"
            CIA 1.5"
            Pacesetter 1.75"
            RKSport 1.75"

                Manifolds will work.

If you go to more advanced nitrous systems then headers are a wise choice.

You are forcing tons of air into the enigne.... why not maximize getting it out?

So do 3800 II with tubular mans have 200 hp like the ones without the tube mans or do they have say 206 or so as if you had some shorties installed. I actually thought the port size was the same it just expelled heat more.

Tubulars still have 200HP. They just make changing the plugs easier.

i'm sure there is a slight gain, but for advertising and paperwork reasons they just left it rated at 200hp because there wasn't that big of a gain to post it. Does it really matter when buying a car whether it has 200 or 205? Not really

^^^ ahh not to the consumer but its funny how other car companies do sometimes advertise that they picked up a 5 horsepower gain over the previous model... cant think of one right off my head but i know ive seen it before somewhere.... i'll look around some....

They did that with the fbody. I think in 00 the LS1 got a HP bump even though they didnt really do anything.

We know the newer v6's are quicker than the older ones.

                            It could be:
                            tubular manifolds
                            strighter shot intake

Dunno.... but on paper/ per manufacturer.... they are rated the same
