this is the kit ive been looking into more and more lately... it seems like a majority of people's choice for a starter dry kit. im gonna get yelled at for this most likely, but i cant resist asking, does anyone know (ballpark estimate of course) what kind of 1/4 mile time ill be running with the 85 shot nozzle that comes with the kit? i just dont want to spend all this money and possibly harm my engine just to barely drop my car into the 14's you know? I have no idea what kind of affect this will have and im just curious to see what other peoples experiences with the kit are. ive got a catback exhaust, home depot intake, shaved air lid, 3.42 gears and LSD. thanks for any help on this!

I would venture to say mid 14s with the mods you already have. There are a ton of factors that fall into this: wind, humidity, temp, altitude. Just depends.sigpic

What kind of upgrades will I need if I get A 5175 dry kit I already have a stock catback exhaust with 2 pipes I have welded on dual tips. If I was to get a kit I don't wanna go to high on spraying my motor I wanna keep everything stock for long as it works so will I need to upgrade anything for a 75 or 85 shot oh yeah this is not going to be a everyday thing I will only spray mabye 2 or 3 times a month just for a lil fun.I just wanna know what kind of expierience this is going to be once I do it will I be able to tell the difference I mean is it like the movie fast and the furious I just wanna be thrown back into my seat I hope 75 or 85 will be enough to do that feed back please.eric head

You will need:
1. higher flowing catback exhaust
2. TR6 spark plugs
3. retard the timing
4. aftermarket 255lph fuel pump (for anything over 75 shot)
5. cold air intake
6. 92+ octane fuel
Optional items, but they are deff recommended:
1. RPM activation switch (aka window switch)
2. headers
3. high flow cat
4. bottle heater
5. 30# fuel injectors
75 or 85 shot will throw you back too. Its not like Fast and Furious though! They had the stupid push button activation switches and they only hit it when they were in 5th or 6th gear minimizing the use or effectiveness of the nitrous.
Do a search too. You will find mucho information about what you need and what other people have done that has worked for them. sigpic

what do you mean by higher flowing catback exhaust do you mean like flowmaster or what. I think whoever had my car may have had a nitrous kit on it not for sure though I just wanna know what could I look for to know if it was installed on my car but they took it off.eric head

Yes, Flowmaster, Magnaflow, SLP, Borla. Any one of those catback systems are way better than a stock system. If you are going to run juice then your car has to be able to breathe correctly.
If there was n2o on your car before, look in the exhaust pipes for excess carbon build up and check the the spark plugs. Its hard to explain what a spark plug looks like after nitrous. Or just take it to a mechanic and they will be able to tell.sigpic

the spark plugs are your eyes inside the engine..take a magnifying glass to them and look for any tiny silvery specks..if you see any thats bad..you're either running lean or detonating and those are little pieces of your piston..too blackish and soiled and you are running rich..melted, chipped, or coroded and you are running lean or need to back down the timing..appearance of normal wear and you've got it just right12 SECOND DUAL STAGE DRY NITROUS POWERED 98 A4 V6 CAMARO
www.MySickCamaro.50megs.com
Best ET: 12.82@103
Best MPH: 104.7
Best 60\': 1.75 - Stock TC

quote:
Originally posted by Shodown:
1DV6 runs 12\'s...enough said.

Okay man. But you run a risk of doing some damage if the car cant breathe properly. Try running a 100 yd sprint breathing thru a straw... ;)
One thing you can do is an exhaust cut out. They arent legal in many states but when you want to spray just open it up and you will be running open headers. Most people have them for running at the track.
Its up to you, but if you dont want to change your exhaust or do a cut out, then I suggest not hooking up nitrous. Headgaskets are expensive to replace...

Cut outs are probably your best bet if you want stock exhaust. You can buy ones that are opened manually and you can buy them where you hit a switch in the car that opens it for you (quite expensive though).
Note that you will have to have them professionally installed unless you are a really good welder with tig welding equipment. Shouldnt be too expensive though.

(look under "exhaust" and then "cutouts")

The problem you are going to run into is that you have 2 inch pipes and the smallest cutouts I know of are 2.25 in. Try a search for 2 in in the intake/exhaust and see what you come up with. Good luck. :cool:sigpic
