  • Nitrous Pressure Gauge

I have a buddy who recently installed a NOS 5175 kit on his camaro. Today he got his bottle filled and when we filled the line, his pressure gauge doesn't move (it is mounted on the bottle with the line). It reads 0 PSI yet. Everything looks right so it is a little confusing. Any ideas why it isn't reading the pressure? When we compared it to my setup it was pretty similar and it should be reading pressure.

Could be a bad gauge. Does he have a purge kit? If he does, try purging it first to see if anything happens. You should also be able to take out the nozzle from the intake and spray it manually into the air just to see if there is pressure.

I dont know what to tell ya except to maybe send the gauge back for a refund or exchange if possible.

Just got back in the house from playin with it...

NOW the dynotune heater wont work either...its the pressure regulated type, and i checked all the connections, power and grounds....clueless...the switch lights up, i dunno

Took the hose off the nozzle, started the car and just pushed the WOT switch and it worked great, and the purge too, so it works, just the pressure gauge and heater i guess??

did you adjust that screw at all on the heater? It said to turn it till it popped or something and then that would put it at 900psi. From there you would then have to adjust it more to wherever you want it at

                    Re: Nitrous Pressure Gauge

Finally got around to checkin this thing out....

The in-line pressure gauge still isnt working (yes the bottle is open) and i did try everything....its gotta be broken, but i didnt know it was that easy to break??

As for the bottle heater...the switch lights up like its on, but nothin happens.

I double checked all the wireing, grounds, and power....its got it all, but it will not heat up..

The instructions say to turn the allen wrench screw on the regulator clockwise till it clicks, and i did like a whole turn, and got no click....do i go more??? Plus having the gauge not working makes it hard to determine what that thing is reading ya know...

This just doesnt make sense because it worked the first time i turned it on, and now i get nothin.....so can someone tell me what is broken??

                      Re: Nitrous Pressure Gauge

about the heater..if the directions say turn it until it clicks..then do just that..dont stop at one turn..turn it until it clicks

as for the pressure gauge..it seems to me that there are only two possible scenarios..either nitrous pressure is making it to the gauge and the gauge is not registering it..or nitrous pressure is not making it to the guage

remove the gauge from the nut adapter coming off the bottle..then..carefully open the bottle very slightly..if nitrous is coming out of the hole where the guage should be..then the fitting is fine and there is no blockage there..next check the little pin hole where nitrous is supposed to enter the gauge..if all is clear..then i would assume you have a bad gauge

im assuming the transducer for the bottle heater comes off of the same nut adapter as the gauge?..maybe there is blockage in the nut adapter and the heater is not coming on because it does not sense any bottle pressure..so i would take those things off and check it out

def. a pluming blockage. Did he use teflon tape or the spread on teflon tape?

                          Re: Nitrous Pressure Gauge

Silly question, you weighed the bottle correct?

Ok.... bottle guage is a no go.... it is an electrical one right? If yes, I'm probably your last person you want to take electrical advice from.... all I can say is check all connections and procede from there.

As for bottle warmer..... to make sure the warmer itself is working ages ago I just lengthened the positive side and slapped it on the battery... this way I knew the warmer itself works... I do not suggest doing that to get the psi up... it is just to check the warmer itself.... then check all the wires, relays and fuses and go from there

                            Re: Nitrous Pressure Gauge

ok....got the pressure gauge to work, and its an in-line gauge.

I just took it apart and blew it out and cleaned it up....the guy before me used teflon paste, so i think a piece must have gotten into it. so it works great!!

As for the heater, ive been talking to a guy from dynotune and doing a few tests to make sure everything is working...so with his help, he said we will get this thing working great....ill let everyone know and thanks for the tips

Teflon paste is good.... tape is bad... just for nitrous kits though.
