I went to the track the other day and made a couple of passes both N/A and sprayed. I have kit 5130, its a universal wet kit for 4s and 6s. The power output of the size shot was significantly less then advertised, . I have a couple of ideas as to why and i just wanted to see what you guys thought of them. N/A pass was 15.235 @ 86.4MPH..NOS "75 shot" 14.545 @ 92.3 MPH the 60' was nearly identical (I'didn't spray till after RPMs hit about 4,000)HP calculators show that this was only a 40HP increase at the flywheel.

    1. I don't have a bottle warmer or a pressure guage so i have no idea the PSI of the tank. It was about 44* outside but obviously warmer in the car. HP tuners indicated that the car was running a little rich also. So, do you think the pressure was to low and that the Nos just wasnt spraying as much as it should be? jsut a note the bottle had jsut been filled about an hour earlier.

    2. The Kit! It's universal for 4s and 6s but a 3.8 is a big six compared to some others. The "75 shot" was only .036/.024 jets. I searched on here for awhile and found this chart. I;m going to email NOS again to make sure but does this look closer? If this is right for our cars then i was spraying about a 45 shot w/o a bottle heater which could acount for the loss of 5 horse or maybe because i was running rich. The chart that the instructions said was 26/18 for 35HP ,30/22 for 50HP, and 36/24 for 75HP. the chart from mustangeater:
    NOS/Fuel
    40hp 34/18
    50hp 37/22
    60hp 39/24
    70hp 41/26
    80hp 43/28
    100hp 46/30
    125hp 52/33
    150hp 61/38
    3. the only other problem that i can think of is that my injection is about 2 ft from the TB and NOS says 6"-1'. I realize that this probably increases my chance of backfire and puddiling but is it possibly a huge HP loss. I really like how its setup now and i dont want to change it. The alternative locations while keeping it hidden seem twice as dangerous.

    Thanks for any input

i can tell you right now you were definitely running rich..you NEED a bottle heater and a psi gauge..you NEED to spray at least at 950 psi..which i believe is a tank temp of 85* - 90* ..with your bottle pressure as low as it was..the nitrous shot was wayyyyy too low/weak to match up correctly to the amount of fuel shot..causing you to run rich..get a bottle heater and a gauge..then try again..i personally like to spray at 1100 psi ..i had to take the thermostats out of the heater to get it up that high though..without a heater i doubt your bottle will ever get up to even 950 psi with an outside temp of 44* even if it is warmer in the car cuz like i said..that bottle has got to be at about 85* - 90* ..the ONLY time i did not need a heater is when it was deadly hot outside and the inside of the car was hot as hell..so get those things and give it another try :)

yeah I knew it was going to go rich without a bottle heater but i sorta wanted it to since it was one of the first times i ever sprayed. I planned on getting the heater and pressure guage anyway. You ran a wet kit too right 1dangerousv6?......what do you think about the jet sizes???

You gained .7 and 6mph in the quarter. Although you probably didn't get the full 75 hp out of the shot, that isn't anything that far off from where it should be.

        Now for the problems.

For a wet kit you are spraying entirely in the wrong spot. Although the instructions say to spray in front of the TB that works best for a dry kit.

You want to tap the Throttle body and spray behind the MAF sensor for a wet kit, also with the bottle pressure being low your shot would be significantly reduced.

you spray your wet shot ahead of the MAF? You should be spraying after the MAF since you are already adding the fuel with the wet shot. You would be running rich because the MAF is reading the nitrous and adding more fuel.

Also yea you need to get your PSI up to get the full amount of power.

14.5 isn't to shabby for a 75 shot though. Make a few adjustments and that will drop some more. You can spray after you are over 3k rpms instead of 4k rpms as well

ok, 90% sure now that the problem is the jets and that the chart is correct not the jets in the instruction book. That would mean that i only shot a 45-47 shot and had too big of fuel jet in. Thanks for the advice about the MAF sensor...i have to at least try to tune it how it is though, can't hide it if its tapped into the TB(I'm sure your right though and it is much better),..i only spray after 4,000 because I was losing traction otherwise and i already have a good na 60' about 1.9..thanks though guys..I'll be sure to get a bottle heater befoer next time

              Re: low power/size shot..help

i ran a wet kit for like 2 weeks and never could get it right..i dont think you'll be able to tune it the way it is..running it before the MAF can cause it to run rich too..the MAF senses the cold nitrous and adds fuel when you're already doing so yourself..if you want it hidden just run it along the bottom of the intake/TB

                Re: low power/size shot..help

running along the bottom of the intake/tb i thikn will be too obvious...it was a good idea, i toyed with it too after the drag race i went home and tried to figure out a way to reposition like you guys are talking about. I spray behind the IAT though so shouldnt that make it so it doesnt compensate for the cold air? granted the air will be more dense and instead of air some of it will be nos/fuel, you guys think that if i spent some time with a wideband and palying with my fuel jet size that i couldn't get it close???

                  Re: low power/size shot..help

well you are spraying it over the MAF and the MAF is what reads the extra air and adds even more fuel.

You might be able to work it out by lowering your fuel jet size and therefore the PCM will add the extra fuel but I would just do it right instead of trying shortcuts to make it work. Shortcuts and nitrous do NOT go together to well.
