I went to the track the other day and made a couple of passes both N/A and sprayed. I have kit 5130, its a universal wet kit for 4s and 6s. The power output of the size shot was significantly less then advertised, . I have a couple of ideas as to why and i just wanted to see what you guys thought of them. N/A pass was 15.235 @ 86.4MPH..NOS "75 shot" 14.545 @ 92.3 MPH the 60' was nearly identical (I'didn't spray till after RPMs hit about 4,000)HP calculators show that this was only a 40HP increase at the flywheel.
1. I don't have a bottle warmer or a pressure guage so i have no idea the PSI of the tank. It was about 44* outside but obviously warmer in the car. HP tuners indicated that the car was running a little rich also. So, do you think the pressure was to low and that the Nos just wasnt spraying as much as it should be? jsut a note the bottle had jsut been filled about an hour earlier.
2. The Kit! It's universal for 4s and 6s but a 3.8 is a big six compared to some others. The "75 shot" was only .036/.024 jets. I searched on here for awhile and found this chart. I;m going to email NOS again to make sure but does this look closer? If this is right for our cars then i was spraying about a 45 shot w/o a bottle heater which could acount for the loss of 5 horse or maybe because i was running rich. The chart that the instructions said was 26/18 for 35HP ,30/22 for 50HP, and 36/24 for 75HP. the chart from mustangeater:
NOS/Fuel
40hp 34/18
50hp 37/22
60hp 39/24
70hp 41/26
80hp 43/28
100hp 46/30
125hp 52/33
150hp 61/38
3. the only other problem that i can think of is that my injection is about 2 ft from the TB and NOS says 6"-1'. I realize that this probably increases my chance of backfire and puddiling but is it possibly a huge HP loss. I really like how its setup now and i dont want to change it. The alternative locations while keeping it hidden seem twice as dangerous.
Thanks for any input
