  • Ran the spray today...

    Good news and bad news.

Good news = everything wired up just fine and had no install problems. First run went great, sprayed fine and took off like a rocket!

Bad news = Second run was fine until I hit about 60 mph and the SES light started flashing. I went to an autoparts store and ran a scanner, P0300 which is "random cylinder misfire".

I have new wires and TR6 plugs gapped at .035 and are brand new. It was running rich a few days ago, but I took them out, cleaned them and regapped them so they arent the issue.

Whats up with that? Should I try new coil packs? New ICM? Have the timing retared?

FYI, I'm only running a 50 hp shot, N20 pressure was 950psi and fuel press was 80psi. I had 1/4 tank of 91 and 3/4 tank of 92 octane fuel with octane booster fuel additive.

    Re: Ran the spray today...

1.) do not use octane booster additives with nitrous. Ruins solenoids in the long run

2.) it might be just a spark plug or wire that needs changing, otherwise try switching the coil packs around and see if the misfire goes to another cylinder. If it does, then you need a coil pack.

3.) Good to hear the nitrous is working good and everything was wired up good.

Only problem with swithcing around the coil packs is that its random multiple misfire and doesnt say which cylinder it is. I may put new ones on anyhow.

Thanks for the info on the octane booster, but does it really matter on a dry kit? I dont think I will use anymore, but I am just curious.

      Thanks man.

oh yea, duh! you don't have a fuel soleniod running fuel to the nozzle.

I use a scanner of my dads and it tells me what cyl. it is when there is a misfire. Maybe ask around if someone around you has one you can borrow

no need to get the scanner.. random misfires means just what it says .... its just a side effect from running the juice

same thing happens when you throw in a cam..

maybe retard a little timing or add fuel in the rpm/tp range where your no2 is activated (if you have the means to) or run a smaller shot

imo everything is fine if you can do either one of the above and you should be running straight 92 or 93 not a mix of 91 and 92 and also no additive (the stuff is junk when used with No2 )

Cool, thanks guys. I will give it a try again and see if maybe it was just a fluke and if it happens again I will wait until I get it dyno tuned and see what the tuner says. I am having it tuned next week.

Just ran it again. It sprayed and ran much better than the last run. It still misfired at topend but didnt throw any codes. I am going to pull the plugs tomorrow and clean them...again (I'm gettin good at that) then try it out again and she what she does.

Nice, how was hard was the wiring? I'm going to do mine tomorrow, if I can ever figure out the msd window switch.

Running RICH. Check the plugs and see if they're black. 80psi is too high for such a small shot.

Thanks Shirl. I am pulling all the plugs tomorrow and cleaning them. I wont spray again until I get it dyno tuned and everything adjusted.

Now all I have to do is be patient...this is going to be tough.

I was gonna say, 80 PSI is double the fuel pressure of stock. correct me if I am wrong but if you double the pressure its like you go from 17 pound injectors to 34 pound injectors.

and up the shot. witha good tune and the fuel pressure regulator you should be able to run a 85-100 shot.

agreed with a good tune, regulator, and pump 75-100 shot should be very easy to do

Ya know, I was thinking the exact same thing, but I figured I was just daydreaming! I will clean up the plugs, but I am still not sure I want to run it until it has a good tune.

I think the fuel pressure is spiking so high because of the Walbro fuel pump. I didnt think it would go that high though, I figured the MAF would calibrate it to the computer better than that.
