  • 50 shot on stock guts w/ 100k miles?

I was wondering how safe it would be to spray a 50 shot of dry nitrous on a motor with stock internals and 114000 miles? The car has cold air intake, headers, full 3" exhaust w/ highflow cat and hooker muffler, 1 piece driveshaft, LSD, 3.42 gears. Its a 97 with an A4.

Pretty damn safe if you do it right. That's a small shot anyways.

Nitrous is never 100% safe, however if your car is in good running condition with no problems you should be ok.

If you're worried it may be worth getting a compression/leakdown test to verify any internal problems you may have.

I've said it many a times if you have a problem nitrous will find it and make it worse, other than that a 50 shot is very safe on a good condition 3.8!

why do you recommend a wet shot? ive heard that they have a greater chance of backfiring and causing serious problems.

This is true. Wet systems can backfire and have a tendency to cause detonation and dry systems wont. But a dry system is tougher on the MAF cuz it sprays right over it.

To the OP, if the car is your daily driver with that many miles, I probably wouldnt do nitrous, but with a small shot and the safety accesories theoretically you should be fine.

I drive a 97 camaro rs with 106k, CAI, headers and magnaflow exhaust. Ive just finished my first bottle of nitrous using a 50 shot. I run the 5175 dry kit from NOS. Everything seems to work great and i love it. Im bumping up to a 65 shot for a while and then a 75. With as many miles as I have, im stopping at 75.

Im not going to tell you its a good idea, but with the supporting mods, and if you are considering it, i take it you take care of it and its in good running condition--i think it would be ok, but do a 50 for a while first.

What is the condition of the car now?

When was the last time a FULL tune up was done?

50 shot dry is a nice "safe" shot.... but ANYTHING can go wrong.
