I have a 99 pontiac firebird 3.8L of course i am considering about putting nitrous in the car but no idea on how it works except push a button or throtle control switch and boom instant horse power... just wondering on what to do if i get a nitrous kit on if i have to get a fuel pump and injectors or can i safely go with stock engine??

just to make ur life a little bit simpler instead of searching.....u can safely run up to a 75 shot and a car with some basic bolts ons(intake, exhaust). No matter what u need to get some colder plugs. the NGK TR6's seem to be the plug of choice for nitrous.

if ur a first timer i would recommend a dry shot (most people use the NOS 5175 i belive) i have the harris speed works kit, which is a great deal at just over 300 bucks. the dry shot minamizes the tuning so it a lot safter, plus its easier to hook up. everyone says that u should run a fuel pressure saftey switch (which cuts off the nitrous if ur fuel pressure drops to low), as well as a rpm window switch(which keeps you from spraying at to low or to high of rpms, most people spray between 3k-5k), i personally dont use either one.

to go any higher in shot that 75 it is recommend to get bigger injectors (gtp ones work great) and an inline boost-a-pump or a higher flowing in-tank pump.

i know i kinda jumped around but i think i about covered everything. let me know if i can help anymore.

I would definately go with the NOS 5175 kit. It is very easy to install and shouldnt need much tuning. It should come with a fuel pressure safety switch too.

i wont be manually spraying the nitrous i think ill be going with the foot pedal activation switch since im a nitrous virgin. i heard that it is best at wide open throtle. if i go with a 50 shot will i be needing any new injectors or fuel pumps or shut off switches ect.??

            Re: Begginers nitrous

I ran stock 19 lb injectors all the way up to 120 dry shot so don't bother thinking about injector changes.
