  • Hooking up a Zex wet kit

Just for fun, let's pretend I got a ZEX wet kit. Now being a wet kit, I would need fuel coming into the nozzle. Where would be the best place to hook a line into the fuel system for the kit? The fuel rail has schrader valve on the passenger side. Would it be advisable to remove the valve stem and connect to the fuel system there? If so, what precautions should be taken to make sure no fuel leaks at the connection during use. Oh, and anybody have a spare window switch they aren't using?

Yep, tap into that shrader valve for the fuel line. When I did mine, I just packed a ton of papertowels around it and removed the valve. It will leak out onto the lower intake manifold and you will get fuel on your hands/fingers, but its not too much of a mess.

Just make sure the -4 AN fitting is tight so it doesnt leak. DO NOT USE ANY KIND OF THREAD SEALER ON IT! It is an AN type fitting which does not require teflon tape or paste.

I know a guy selling a window switch. I will get his contact info for you shortly.

I have a nitro dave digital dual window switch and is basically brand new.

I opened it but never ended up using it...its a really cool little device though.

It is a window switch setup for 1 or 2 stage nitrous (if you ever get to that)
It is a TPS switch so you wont have to mount a mechanical WOT switch
And it also has multi-gear lockout so that if you only want to spray in 2nd and 3rd or only 3rd (for whatever reasons) its ready to do that.

You can contact me on aim at FloydSummerOf68

100 bucks and you get it.

So, how does one go about removing the valve stem thingy. Just use the same tool you'd used on a tire's valve stem?

correct, just make sure you relieve the pressure from the fuel system first, or you are gonna get a nice gassy bath

Yeah, its the same tool as you use on tires. They are about $1.99 (at most) at any autoparts store.

So whats the best way to relieve the pressure from the system? I was just gonna wrap it with a shop towel before I take it loose, but if there's a more appropriate way of doing it, I'm all for it.

Thats pretty much all ya do. Just loosen that valve slowly to relieve the pressure. As soon as fuel starts leaking out, then wait a second until it stops dripping, then loosen it some more until fuel stops coming out.

Thanks guys, you've been very helpful.
Now, what about a throttle body spacer or nitrous plate? What's my best option here? I can draw it up in CAD and have it cut on a WaterJet, or should I try to drill and tap a ZZP spacer?

Seems to be a little bit too much for me. The kit I got has a control box (NMU) that hooks up to the electronic throttle control wire, and to the fuel line. When you hook up the NMU, you press a "learn" button, then hold the gas pedal down for 10 seconds and the NMU learns the voltage for 100% throttle. It also measures the fuel pressure before sending the fuel into the nozzle, any sudden drop in fuel pressure and it cuts off the nitrous. So really, I just need a basic window switch. Thanks though.

Nobody makes a plate for the 3.8 :( But if you made your own or use ZZP's TB spacer, that would be kick @ss!! I would probably buy the ZZP TB spacer and drill it out.

Its a good thing you have a 99+ cuz it wouldnt work on the angled TB's like mine :(

I just don't wanna spend 85 bucks on it, if i can do it free.

Ok fellas, I need one more thing. I need a throttle position sensor output voltage wire. I need a wire that the voltage climbs when the throttle is depressed. This will act as a WOT switch. I have the electronic throttle. Help

I have no idea man, I dont have the elec TB on my car.

You could however, get a regular WOT switch and mount it under your pedal on the floor. Many people have had great success doing that. Thats best advice I can give though.
