Re: time to get back in the game

i'd recommend getting a tune (for nitrous) on the dyno with a wideband (or even pyrometer) and watching for KR.

i found that even when i dropped back down to the 75 shot, i was maxing out my injectors. i was seeing pulse width going up to 25-30+ milliseconds at around 5,000RPM and a healthy serving of KR. i took out gobs of timing and was able to calm my nerves running a 50 shot, but the power felt sooo weak compared to the 85 shot (.047 jet) and the timing i had to take out just wasn't worth it.

i'm not sure if its because i've got a 2001 camaro which has different style injectors though... or maybe the 91 octane i'm stuck with here...

One little reason I love living in PA... I have a station right down the street, A-Plus, they offer 93 octane for the same price as their own 91... Don't ask me to explain it!?!?! But yes... same price... I know when I start nitrous, I will be stopping at that gas station, even though its in the other direction... and now from this post, I know I will buy the safety stuff for nitrous BEFORE I buy the kit.... that way I am not tempted to spray before. I have very weak will power. LOL

Re: time to get back in the game

well car is being torn down as we speak. had a chance to take a look at the motor that blew, and it looks like it droped number 6. im getting back the motor when the shop gets done puttin the used on in. my question is what can i get for some of the parts. i know i will have the following

-both complete heads (or could seperate if someone wanted stock rockers and springs) (this also assumes that the chuncked piston didnt destroy one)
          -upper and lower intake
          -throttle body
          -injectors
          -valve covers
          -pushrods

so this is on an 01 with 60k. what kinda prices should i ask for on these things? i dont expect to get much just some money, just some extra money to cover some labor charges at the shop.

Re: time to get back in the game

From what I've seen people get around 100ish for the heads and 100ish for
the upper and lower intakes. Not sure about the rest of it.

I might be interested in the upper and lower intakes and the heads if they're
not damaged. Then you wouldn't have to ship anything big...haha

Re: time to get back in the game

well i got the car back night, and it is running awsome. they mechanic actually told me to spray it now if im going to so that the warranty will cover anything that happens. so it looks like the spray is staying on, just gotta get a tune, and a window switch and ill be golden.

I gurantee you that if you put nitrous in that motor they will void the warranty :P

well the good thing about that is that i know the mechanic, and he said me having spray is between me and him, they dont have to know. so im gonna use it and if it blows it up, the place that sold him the motor pays for a new motor plus his labor, so why not ya know?

Well its immoral for one....but lets hope it DOESNT blow up. That would be a pain in the ***.

Are there any safety accessories that you need to pick up?

I noticed in one of your pictures you are spraying before the maf sensor, are you using a dry kit, because I thought you were going with a wet kit.

look at it again. It is a dry kit. You can tell becuase there is no fuel line going to it. Just a nitrous line.

                                if you weren't paying attention, i'll give you a brief summary of what happened with that - to put this issue to rest;

Two months ago on November 14th, lilchubby started this thread stating that he was going to buy a new nitrous kit in mid december.

Three days later on November 17th, he stated that he found a great deal on a nitrous express wet kit. He was unsure about the wet install, however.

On December 7th, he posted to let it be known that he was buying a kit on the morning of December 8th. He did not indicate which kit he was ordering.

On December 17th, he posted pictures of the installation. What you failed to notice is that it was not a nitrous express wet kit - he ended up purchasing another Harris Speed Works dry kit. Notice the shiny black bottle in the wheel well.

Harris Speed Works nitrous kits are simply irresistable.
