well there is nothing else that i can do to my car so i have decided to build up my engine. i already have port and polished heads and a gt1 cam 26 lb fuel injectors and a 3 angle vavle job.
i wanted to build up the engine to be able to take a LARGE nitrous hit. for those of you who don't know. i'm running a n/x 100 wet shot. maybe one day i will add a supercharger on top of it.

what do i need to get?
furtherported heads w/ 5 angle VJ
ported intakes
whats your valve train setup? (ie valve spring #, valves, retainers, etc)
Larger Cam
Maybe some roller rockers
forged pistons
total seal piston rings
L32 Connecting rods

thats a nice healthy list i think
o and then transmission......a4 or m5?
i wanted to keep my stock heads,
valve springs etc are all stock
i was thinking of going to a larger cam and selling the gt1
rollar rockers i was thinking of 1.9
i'm a m5
if you have a cam...esp larger than the gt1, you will not want to go over 1.7's...if you go too high, you will cause too much lift and BOOM, most i have ever seen was a mild-large cam with 1.8's and even there you are flirting with disaster, but that was on abbott stage 3 heads.
I would suggest new valve springs, guides, retainers, seals...etc
It feels kinda weird giving advice to you Kristen, you usually answer OUR questions! lol j/k. :)
Tranny:
G-Force built T-5
For your motor build:
Forged rods
Diamond forged Pistons
Comp 1.7 ratio Pro Magnum roller rockers
130# Springs
Titanium retainers
Hardened pushrods
Comp XP Hot cam (or Abbott's N/A cam, responds VERY well to nitrous)
Comp hydrolic roller lifters
New valve locks
Double roller timing set
New timing chain dampner
P&P uppper and lower intakes
36lb injectors
Now, for your nitrous set up: (dual stage)
Secondary window switch set at 4000-6000 RPM (100 shot)
Secondary solenoids hooked up to the secondary window switch
Piggy back secondary window switch to original WOT switch
Set your original window switch at 3000-6000 RPM (100 shot)
"Y" fitting coming off of you fuel rail
"Y" fitting coming off of your nitrous bottle (or get a second bottle)
You'll basically have 2 nitrous systems, one hits at 3000-6000 rpm (stage one) and one hits at 4000-6000 rpm (stage 2)
With all that, you should be set for a 200+ shot
not ready for the second nitrous set up yet. i will play it by year. i will up it to 150, and go from there.
shodown. the list of stuff that you named off. what will all of that cost. jw. i can't wait to get into this! but it won't be going down for a while. since we are going to build my husbands old motor first. and then do the camaros
For your motor build:
Forged rods - $200 +
Diamond forged Pistons - $650.00
Comp 1.7 ratio Pro Magnum roller rockers $300
130# Springs $150
Titanium retainers $?
Hardened pushrods $ 100
Comp XP Hot cam (or Abbott's N/A cam, responds VERY well to nitrous) $300
Comp hydrolic roller lifters $120
New valve locks $cheap
Double roller timing set $170
New timing chain dampner (not needed with adouble roller set up)
P&P uppper and lower intakes $390
36lb injectors $150 or less used from clubgp.com
and then there are misc costs for an engine build...wrist pins, bearings, possible machine work.
The motor build will cost ~$2600 (high estimate) for all brand new parts. I think those built T-5's are around $1500.
Thats a good idea about the nitrous though. Start at 150 and work your way up. I dont know about your kit, but you may need bigger 'noids for anything more than 150.
If you're worried about spraying a single nozzle 150 shot on the stock motor I would just get a second kit and spray a 50 shot in 3rd gear and up ontop of your current 100 shot.
Your motor doesnt need to be built yet...the 50 shot will give you the extra umph you need to get your 12s and will be shot high enough to not cause any problems for the motor.
That's what I would do.
And that could be done for less than 500 dollars (including a second window switch or time-delay)
Or put a 150 shot on the single nozzle and use a proggressive controller to control the ramp-up time of the nitrous so that you wont break your 5-speed on the initial hit of it or your rearend on the launch.
And that would only run you about 175 for a digital controller.
sure think of it in terms of a turbo....the block itself can hadle huge amounts of horsepower in steps
at low rpms boost is equally low....the more you get on the gas the more it builds up till WOT when it is at its predesignated max.
