I was watching Pinks where there was this turbocharged mustang, the crew was spraying nitrous onto the intercooler to keep it cool. So this got me thinking, since i do plan on upgrading the fronts to corvette brakes, but the car is still pretty heavy and there will be fading due to heat. So I was wondering is it possible to use nitrous to cool down the brakes? Since I have seen those nitrous purges, can it be hooked up in a way that it sprays at the brakes?

No you probably dont want to do that. Metal going from really hot to really cold can cause cracking, so probably not the best idea. Nirtous is about $5 a pound on average so a 10 pound bottle, say $50 just to cool your brakes, but its your choice. Kind of a waste of nitrous.

Also do you really want to use an idea that you got from watching people in a mustang. I mean if they are racing a mustang, you should know there is something wrong with them from the start.

bad idea.

Plus is it really that big of an issue that you need to cool your brakes? Are you running a nascar circuit or something that they are getting that hot? I never had a problem with it

yea, no way in hell the breaks should be getting near hot enough to need to be cooled with nitrous...drilled and/or slotted rotors will do the trick.

brakes is metal on metal.... what do you think all that friction will create?
Heat & Sparks maybe?

Go ahead and spray nitrous at some sparks, report back what happens

heat is good for (most) brakes anyways

nitrous oxide itself is not explosive. The reasons engines benefit from it is because it introduces extra oxygen into the intake. But it does come from a highly explosive chemical ammonium nitrate

Brake rotos get damn hot under hard deceleration.

Nitrous is DAMN cold.

If you spray something that is damn cold.... on something that is damn hot.... it will break.

You would be braking hard.... press the nitrous button.... really cold nitrous would spray on the really hot rotor and CRACK! The rotor would most likely sustain damage...WORSE case scenario... it complately cracks and breaks and comes off in the caliper.... damages the wheel and tire.... and you lose brakes completely

anyways... why go through all the work to cool down your breaks... use the cash to buy a really nice break setup.
