whats up i know this question has been asked a millon times and i am sorry for asking it again, i have a 2000 camaro with the 3.8l series 2 in it will 64,000miles on it. my question is what is the max hp shot of nos i can go safely. the motor is all stock however when i get back from iraq i am going to upgrade the ignition system (coil packs, wires, plugs and even i new altenator) and the fuel system. i have heard so many things about what the motor can handle stock some say 50 max and some say 75 and what is best to use wet or dry. please someone clear up the roomers so i can start my planing.

    thanks

    Re: One quick question

I think most would say the max wet is 100 and dry is 75. If you do that then start thinking about supporting mods sooner than later.

What unit are you in? MOS?

              Re: One quick question

On a stock 3.8 (with supporting mods: intake, exhaust, tr6 plugs) you can do an 85 dry shot, upgrade the fuel pump and you can do a 100 dry shot, upgrade the injectors and you can do a 125 dry shot.

With a wet system you can do a 100 shot, upgrade the fuel pump and you can do 125. An upgraded pump isnt a necessity with a wet system, but its a good safety measure ;)

After 125 dry or wet, its recommended to get forged internals.

But remember, if you want maximum efficiency with any amount of nitrous, you'll need a good tune via HP Tuners or DHP.

There should be a sticky for this.....

                  Re: One quick question

I ran 85 dry with basic intake/ exhasut supporting mods.

To run a 120 dry kit..... I had an adjustable fuel pressure regulator, tuning, and a kenne bell boost a pump.

I ditched my stock old injectors for accel 19 lb injectors (same LB rating as stock)

I upgraded to a granatelli 255 lph fuel pump and this pump and the kenne bell boost a pump hated each other.

Shortly after I ditched the kenne bell boost a pump and adjustable fuel pressure regulator and just had tuning and the 255 lph pump.

Keep in mind.... I spent extensive time on the dyno finding out the perfect A/F ratio and jets for my birdie.

Then... I switched to the wet kit... started 75 shot.... made one pass.... upped to a 100 shot and stayed there mostly.

A couple times I have jetted to 125 wet..... and various silly things have happened.... nozzles were misalligned.... filter's were clogged, electrical gremlins.... push button crapping out and so on.

If you want to be safe..... 85 dry.... nuff said.
