Do you have to purge your system before each use? What would happen if you never purge your system?

I purge before each run as I shut the bottle off between them. All it does is brings the nitrous to the solenoid. Without a purge there would be a split second of just air and then the nitrous hits.

So it's not going to hurt my motor, since its a wet kit. Wouldn't the fuel hit first causing it to run rich and bog for a second?

        Re: Purging

there are guys that run kits without purge systems. you gotta figure that fuel is flowing at 45psi and nitrous is at 900psi-1000psi, that little bit is not that big of a deal because the nitrous is moving pretty quickly at that psi.

If you have the cash I would get one though for peace of mind and cool factor

Do you need a purge? No.

          Is it benificial... yes.

It will get the liquid nitrous much closer to the y fitting to mix with the gasoline.

          My suggestion.... get one.

Silly q - do you have a bottke warmer?

A bottle heater is more important than a purge kit, I think thats what James is getting at.

i purge just before a run..then i close the bottle and purge the lines until im up again..then i'll also purge the system when im done for the day..just leaving 900+ psi in the system for extended periods of time can be very hard on the lines, solenoids, etc. and can cause premature failure..yeah..it sucks when you have a fuel solenoid sh|t the bed half way down the track ;)

                  Re: Purging

well I thought the same about the purge until today when kristen had her first nitrous back fire at the track......I don't know what else it could of been she has the WOT switch and a window switch spraying at 3000 rpms the only thing I could think of is having too much air in the lines and causing a more than normal fuel richness mixture causing it..... i'll be making sure her purge is setup for the track next time.
