  • ZEX Tps Box (recduced engine power)

I hooked my zex TPS WOT wire (white) to my green TPS Signal wire 1 and everytime It will drive around for a second and then the RPMS will hang and the throttle will not respond. Also, the reduced engine power light comes on along with the CEL. If I take the wire off, it all stops and all is good. The power to the zex box IS NOT hooked up when it does it...why is it doing this, I am not even tryin to spray when it happens!

hmm, might want to try a zex helpline or forum for the best answer, not to many people run that setup there

Maybe you have to have the box hooked up because it's interpreting it as an open circuit otherwise. Bus as said zex would be the best source for answers, they may even have it answered already in a troubleshooting section.

Yeah but wouldnt it detect it as an open circuit when I have the toggle off and its not armed? On a 2000 3.8 is it the green or the purple wire that is 0-5 volts?

Looking at the manual those are not the colors I see listed for the TPS. The ones I see for the TPS in the manual are Grey, Dark Blue and Black. That doesn't help a whole lot and it may be correct on your car just going by the manual.

hmm are u in a 00 3.8 manual? I dont have a service manual, guess I better go pick one up...the thing that gets me is after I program the box it works great , just when i drive the car its the car that acts up. I had some schematics printed off and they said TPS signal 1 and 2 were purple and green, green being 1, and purple being 2. Ill look for an online manual.

Don't know there. The manual goes for 97 and up so it's very possible the colors changed. Mine is a 2000 too, when I get a chance and if it isn't raining I'll look and see what mine are.

Check there for the pcm pin out based on year.

Ive been there, it says grey or light blue/black. I found a light blue/black wire and grey wires coming from the computer. But there is 2 of each. I am getting fed up with trying to figure it out! lol someone has had to install one on a v6 3.8 with electronic throttle.

Get a hold of zex and find out. It seems there is a conflict with the wiring scheme on your car for some reason.

I tried the purple wire, programmed it, and well, IT WORKED. The purple is TPS Signal #2 on my schematics sheet, green was Signal #1, guess green was not the one to use. Sprayed the hell out of the car 2nd through 3rd. Checked plugs, all looked good, I didn't hear any spark knock, so I'm good to go. A buddy of mine told me today he has some **** for me. Bottle gauge, heater, and fuel pressure gauge. W0ot! Spray all the way.

Congrats, glad you got it figured out. Now I'm curious to know the color wires on my 2000.

yeah I said on mine, between the manual and you car it's not the same evidently, I'm curious what mine is since it's the same year.

Maybe there is multiple ones, like the ones comming from the computer are the ones that are light blue/black and grey, then when they get to the TB assembly, they are a different color. Who knows? Try the purple? Have u looked to see if you have one?
