If falls below the low rpm set point, yes but depending on the window switch there is +/- 200 rpm factor in there. My auto with 3.73's I didn't have any delay that I noticed when it shifted at 5900 rpms. This is because the next shift is within my 3000 rpm limit.

Not with my 3.73's shifting at 5900 rpms. But with others with lower gears there would be a delay, not long probably not even a second.

so it's just a fail safe in case the tranny slips uber bad?
Yep, thats the point in putting one in. Better to be safe when on the nitrous.
