Is there anyway to disable/bypass the ABS on these cars without kicking on the light; like a simulator or something? Reason being, my cruise control hasn't worked since I did my rear end swap, my low traction light constantly comes on on hard deceleration, and I was raised on no ABS :P. I've been told the CC and the low traction light is because I swapped my 3.23's for 3.73s, so now the ABS module thinks I still have the stock gearing; when it sees the rear end spinning slower then it should be, it disables CC and gives the low traction light on occasions. Any fix?

Re: ABS bypass?
Your gear change should not have caused your ABS to act up. Something is not right with your ABS ring on the carrier or the sensor. I went from 3.08's to 3.73's and both work fine.
The ABS works off the RPM of the carrier and that doesn't change when you change gears. A tire size change would cause your ABS problem.

Re: ABS bypass?
I went to 3.73's and no problems, just had to use a used truck rear becuase my reluctor ring was stuck in the old housing and the 3.73's barely would fit, had some accidents damaging the rear in the past, slid into some curbs moving the rear 4"s over on 1 side.08' L76 6.0L 4X4 Chevy EXT.Cab LTZ Vortec MAX with Snug top cover, Dynomax exhaust,Hptuners& K&N intake

Re: ABS bypass?
First, I am in no way recommending this to anyone on here as you are bypassing a safety feature built into these cars.
Now, with the disclaimer out of the way...
I bypassed the ABS and the TC on my 1993 Firebird. When I bought the car both systems were going haywire and were broken beyond reasonable repair. For the ABS, I pulled the fuse which actually never even triggered the ABS light. Pulling the fuse rendered the system DOA.
For the TC, I can't recall if there was a fuse, or if it was the same as the ABS fuse. I will check my owner's manual later to see the fuse location diagram. Either way, removing the power from the system left it DOA, only it did trigger the dash light.
After that I pulled the TC and ABS bulbs out of the cluster for good.
I did this 3 years ago when I bought the car and I have not had a problem since.

Re: ABS bypass?
I lost my abs when I did the gear swap, but that was because the new carrier was a different size, and the guy didnt do the best job of centering the unit...When we put the new eaton unit in, I could of had it, but opted not to put the ring on...I'm actually going to buy the ABS delete/linelock kit from SJM and loose about 20lbs off the front end, while adding in a proportioning valve...I'll be able to give the back drums a little more brake pressure and even out the stopping a little...you may want to look into that...

Re: ABS bypass?
Well I swapped in a rear from a 97 Z. The car had been sitting, but I had the rear rebuilt (fresh bearings and gaskets everywhere) except for the brakes (think they need it now :P). While it was on the stock tune I could drive it fine, but once I changed the PPM via DHP, my low traction light and cruise control doesn't work anymore. I was told it's the ABS messing up since I went with taller gears, and was hoping I could find a way around it. Not really a necessity, more of a preference right now; car is completely drivable, I just hate to look down and see my low traction light on when I've got all 4 tires gripping good :P. And cruise control would be nice to have again....~97 3.8L V6 Camaro~
