  • '96 PCM Removal

Anyone have a quick and easy way to remove the PCM for our cars? I've got it in storage right now and don't want to drag my tool box if it can be quick and painless. Also, if I've been reading other threads right. a '97 PCM can be plugged into a '96 without rewiring (as long as it goes 4l60 to 4l60 and gear for gear)? Thanks in advance.

Yep. Easy direct swap. Little bit of a pain to coax is out. It's easiest if you loosen up the cowl, but it's doable without.

The hardest part is putting it back in like said the cowl really can mess your hands up with some minor cuts/stratches. Make sure you know your clear and blue side for connections although even if mixed up they will not plug in the wrong connection.

Gentlemen, thank you so much for your input. I think I'll get the reprogram at this point (being that it'll be free) and save up so that I can get HP tuners, then grab a '97 PCM and finally, finally, the project will be done. Thank you again. This has been a real help.
