p1221 and reduced eng pwr light
I have a 2000 camaro 3.8L. So I start my car up and it throws an engine light (p1221) and reduced eng pwr light code. I can only drive my car up to 15-20mph and my tach will not rise above 2500rpm. After several hours later, both lights turned off and my car drove like normal. Any steps you guys can suggest to troubleshoot/solve problem? Thanks

usually when the reduced power light comes on it has to do with the maf/actuator going bad

yea something like that happened to me they told me it might be the MAF sensor, spent 150 on one and that wasnt it. There went my 150; for me it turned out to be the TPS so i had to replace the throttle body since there riveted in. Still have that MAF sensor around here.Comment

Update: so I started it up this morning, the code and reduced eng pwr light came on when I went to put it in reverse; I shut it off and returned to it this afternoon and no lights.. I drove it around the block and it drove like a beauty.. I did an experiment and revved in neutral to about 5000rpm and both lights came back on and I couldn't go above 2000rpm and 20mph again.

check to see if the butterfly is opening on the throttle body

I believe its on the passenger side of the the throttle body.Comment

okay.. and unfortunately it looks like you have to bore out the rivets otherwise u replace the entire throttle body but no1 sells the TPS for 3800!!!!Comment
