HpTuners problems ... Richmond VA

My 98 Camaro was tuned exactly two years ago yeasterday. It has been sitting with out a battery for the majority of this time. I recently got th car back on the road and running.

Since back on the road, Problems:

ABS INOP light Stays on
Top speed is 119 instead of 200
SES light comes on, 02 sensor code
....Ill post more as it comes to me

I have 24" tall tires up front and 27-3/4" tires in the rear. Also installed 4.11 from 3.73 gears. So my speedo is accurate.

When the car was tuned, my top speed was changed. Why is it Maxing out at the same top speed as before the tune? Is it possible for a tune to fade away???

The ABS light May Stay on bc of the differences in tire sizes. WOuld this also remove the tuned higher speed?

Should my O2 sensors been deleted??

one of my buddys told me something about somehow the pcm resets without a battery or something, i cant remember exactly what happened, but i know when i accidently erased my pcm he told me to try leaving my battery unplugged to see if it would reset

do you have access to hp tuners?

ive heard the same. But i would assume that when tuned, it becomes the new settings. So when it would reset itself it would go to the tuned program.

I dont have HpTuners but i posted this same thing in The dixie six section


Did yours reset after you cleared it? or did you buy another?

i had to buy another pcm, my fuse blew for the pcm in the middle of the overwrite, and the pcm had just finished erasing, so i had a empty pcm, and the car wouldnt even recognize there was a pcm there, so it wouldnt start

so i pulled one from a junk yard and reflashed my tune to that pcm and drove it home

if you cant find anyone to re tune your car, i could re tune your pcm for you if needed

Damn. Glad you got it straight. Well im not sure if the problem is even the tune. It may be sensors or... When you tune, do you delete all the O2's or just the rear one?

you dont want to delete the front ones, you will be getting bad mpg

O, alright. I thought they were all deleted.

Now im worried about the top speed and ABS. The ABS INOP May be from the Differences in tires sizes. Would this also cause my top speed to be inaccurate?

the abs shouldnt be because of tire sizes, i have had as small as 225/50/16 and as big as 275/45/17 and i never had a problem with the abs

and that shouldnt affect your top speed either

Once the PCM is flashed it stays that way even if the batt. is disconnected, I have flashed PCM's and sent them 1500 miles and they still have the same settings. This is why they have mail order tunning.

Even if it sits for 18 months? If thats not the problem, What would cause my top speed to be 119? I should max out of rpm.

Could be gears and/or tire size being off and your ABS INOP , but once the PCM is flashed it is in there for good, just like if it came from the factory, unless the PCM is bad. I wouldn't be running it that high if your throwing codes.

If the PCM was bad it would be having all kinds of problems correct? I guess Ill swap some stock wheels & tires on and see if anything changes.

No problem, I was getting ready to suggest using some stock wheels, If the front and rear are off by more than 3% I think it throws that code. I think if the ABS INOP is on it probably won't go over a certain speed for safety sake. But I know once their flashed its in their for good. Keep use updated.

Thats what i thought "once its in there its in there". Before the tune my top speed was 119. Now its back to 119. I would have assumed when it changed, it changed for good. Ill post when i try the stock wheels and tires. Ill also take a look at all my sensors.

Any idea how i can check the sensors? For resistance?
