My temperature gauge on my dash stopped working a week or so ago. I assumed it was a faulty Coolant Temperature Sensor, but when I swapped it out for a new one I still got no temperature reading. If anyone has ideas on what the problem might be or suggestions on which part to swap out next I would appreciate the help. Thank you.
Maybe your Thermo is stuck open, or like posted gauge in car is bad.

i seem to remember that grounding the wire from the sensor will cause the needle to move all the way up the temp guage. this will test of your temp guage is defective. if needle doesn't move, then guage is defective. if it does, then guage is good. if guage is good, like others said, i would check thermo, then the temp coolant sensor. hth.
If you get a coolent temp below threshold code it kills the temp gauge but does not set a service light. I know this from experience, so this could be a possible cause.
Right on. Over the holiday hopefully I will have some time to test our your theories and get it fixed. If not, I'll be back to let you know that something is still awry! Thanks for the advice.
i was replacing a battery in a e3500 gmc boxtruck and and hit the ground cable from the aftermarket liftgate on to the positive and the temp sensor stays at 0 with the "check gauges" light on... the needle moves at startup but goes down to 0... my boss was please...
the ground cable was red btw!
also.......... in my camaro... when installing remote start i ****ed up and put power to the wrong wire. and now my oil gauge does the same.............. fml. lol
