came home from my brothers house..turned off the car and went inside less than 2 min later i went to turn the car on and nothing doesnt turn over either. idk what the problem is tried disconnecting the battery and pulling out the fuses and waiting but nothing. Only thing left i can think of is either the starter or the ignition lock cylinder. its freezing outside so i was wondering if there was any way to check the starter without having to get under the car..i doubt it...any help or suggestions would b appreciated...note i had an aftermarket remote start/alarm put in a month or so ago

Re: security light
Hmm I had the same problem but it was because of a second key I had cut. Its hard to say if the alternator or the stater is whats actually causing the security light to go on or not. I would say take them off and have someone at auto zone or something test them. Maybe one of the gurus here knows a better way of testing them.3M MAFIA

Re: security light
My security light stays on like 5 or 6 seconds on every start up. If the security light turns off in less than 3 minutes, then it's not vats bugging you. Is the starter clicking at all? My starter went out recently, didn't make any noise at all, i think the solenoid went out. Anyway, i took it out and it actually passed the autozone test, but just hardly, so i put in a new one and no problems since. I'd make sure the starter is getting juice first.

Re: security light
no cranking or nothing?
I get the security light every now and then, it actually prevents me from starting the car and the alarm will go off. I have to step outside the car( trust me the car knows it when Im inside somehow) lock the car, wait a couple of minutes, unlock and then try again if it doesn't work I would do it again and wait longer.
It sounds dumb but I have gotten it to start back up everytime this way. If I sit there and try to start it, I will get no crank and the alarm will not go off. I haven't tried disconnecting the battery and getting jumped since most of the time I'm on the road or something.
