has anyone hooked up EGT's to hp tuners for tuning purposes and data logging? Is it possible to hook up multiple EGT's at one time...lets say 6 of em :D ?? don't feel like having 6 guages in the car...will feel like Im piloting a plane rather then a car...

I've heard that you can get a converter to make the EGT's read 0-5v and therefore plug into the EIO feature of hp tuners...but how many can you wire up through one of those converters? the temp sensors themselves can be had for $30 or so, so that price isn't that bad if I just need to pick up 6 and one converter?

I just have 1 EGT probe I'm putting in before the turbo that has its own setup that hooks up to my Aeroforce Scanner gauge.

you also only have 1 throttle body :P...I have a bad feeling that my setup is going to have the rear tbs takeing less air then the front tbs...and when I get a new cowl hood later down the road, the front tbs will be getting colder air the the rears I think...my wideband will read me the average afr, but I want to make sure that 1 cylinder is not running leaner then another, or at the very least they are as close as possible...egts are the only way I can see doing this...

I totally forgot about what your doing, You can get 1 gauge to read to reading so you could measure both TB's , Each gaage has 2 hook ups for wide band , egt, oil pressure , or anything you want. Might be a option since it would show both TB's at the same time, plus you can scroll and look at other functoions and clear DTC's and set limits on stuff to where if the go past what you set it will flash and let you know. Just a Idea.

If it is .5 volts it should work.

how detremental do you think it would be to just get one of those units and 4 K type EGT's, and begin tuning...then swap the EGT sensors around as I go along...damn expensive to get two of those...especially when I'll only be using half of the second one...PLUS I need to buy the sensors...

                Re: EGT's and tunning

You could and just plug the other holes , after you get a reading. Would save you money in the long run and once tuned it shouldn't change much after you take a reading.

are the EGT's ok to leave in 24/7? thats what I was thinking, just plug the holes...I could put them into the top part of the headers there...right where it comes out of the block almost....easily accessible...would take 5 mins to swap the sensors..

EGT's should be fine to leave in all the time. Diesel boys would be F'd if you couldn't...

Yes mine will be in all the time just to see what temps in the AZ summer are going to be going into the turbo. So I know when I'm getting on it too much.

                        Re: EGT's and tunning

beauty...now if only they made a gauge that will allow you to cycle through all 4/6 EGT's...that would be mint...I think I may start with the 4, and maybe pick up the additional unit down the road...especially if I can find some sort of gauge that would cycle through the set for me...

                          Re: EGT's and tunning

I would talk to Auerofroce gauges to see if they have any new gauges coming out that will display more than 2 displays at a time. But you could always cycle to see the other dispalys, 2 at a time. Or get 2 gauges and view 4 at a time. Will get expensive. Or call PLX they have some new stuff out, a rep. sent me a email saying he wanted me to upgrade my car with all their new equipment with a discount, but I told him half off still was too much and I would only do it , if they gave the stuff to me for free.

I'll look into that...tell him I'll use the stuff for free...AND I'll sport his stickers on my car (only while racing)

I tried to tell him to give me the wideband and the fuel pressure sender and evrything for free but wouldn't do it , so I told him my PLX m300 has been working fine for 7 years and didn't need to spend money on something I really didn't need. But if it was broken I would of done the deal with him , but so far I haven't had any problems with the unit or the wideband coming up on 8 years(bought it in 01-02) , so I got a good unit I would say.LOL
