    Re: O2 sensors placement?

your Sensor 2 is downstream by the cat. (i think)

i'm assuming you have a v6 with a single exhaust. with a single exhaust, they can be called bank 1 or bank 2, but usually Sensor 2 is by the cat. Sensor 1 would be upstream by the manifolds. Bank 1 is the side of cyl 1, and bank 2 is the other side.

i think......someone might correct me if i'm wrong, but i would replace the sensor by the cat. hope this helps.

      ok so:
      drivers side= bank1 sensor 1
      passenger's side= bank1 sensor 2

      post-cat= bank2 sensor1

        Re: O2 sensors placement?

the sensor at the cat is usually sensor 2 it can also be bank 1...depends on manufacturer. that is for a single exhaust. if you've had dual exhaust and dual cats, one would be bank1 sensor 2 and the other bank2 sensor 2.

("bank" is kinda like "left" and "right")

Heres a better way to look at it found from another post:

          Bank 1 Sensor 1 - Drivers Manifold
          Bank 1 Sensor 2 - Pre-Cat
          Bank 1 Sensor 3 - Post-cat
          Bank 2 Sensor 1 - Passenger Manifold

            Re: O2 sensors placement?

What code is it? p0420 I think is the 02 sensors for the cat. If you have a high flow cat, get that tuned out, or just live with it.

real quick, which cars came with 02 sensors right before the cat and right after. my 00' bird has one right after the cat, and in my headers. Not one right before the cat, Ive never heard of anyone with a 6 having one right before the cat.

                No. That's not quite right

Bank 1 sensor 1 = driver side, ahead of the cat
Bank 2 sensor 1 = passenger side, ahead of the cat
                Bank 1 sensor 2 = rear sensor

lol we need to figure this out bcause i went to autozone today and he told me bank 2 sensor 2 low voltage and bank 1 sensor 2 low voltage. i didnt have time or any way to get the codes. but i can always go back tomorrow and make sure.
