  • VSS question

ok on a 94 A4 I'm trying to determine what the VSS signal is going to the PCM. is it pulsed or voltage? If its pulsed dose any one know a way to create a signal ranging 0-5V out of it? I'm trying to feed the speed into MegaSquirt so I can see how fast I'm going once I pass the 110 it was limited at.

    Re: VSS question

why not just use a GPS?...they tell you your speed...and record the top speed...

    2002 SOM Z28 Camaro - 12.9 @ 104 mph
    1996 3800 Camaro - 13.43 @ 100.77 mph

      Re: VSS question

spend $100+ on a GPS or get this to work on Megasquirt for $10 ( resistors IC unit and capacitors). also GPS dosn't factor in un-even terrain.

Borrow someones gps, find flat terrain, spend 0 bucks. Besides gas.

            Re: VSS question

Can I ask.. why are you trying to do this? Most people create goals to go a certain speed at a set length in a certain amount of time. But these high speed runs for fun seem stupid. If you want to know how fast you're going just ask the cop when he pulls you over.

that doesnt even make sense, nothing bad happens to the gps if you travel over 100, why would they care how fast you were going ?

The VSS is pulsed. The ECM reads the pulses and computes distance traveled and speed.

Thanks thought so just wasn't sure after seeing I had a different VSS than either or the M5's
