    Re: Getting dyno tune Monday. Need advice.

    @Watazz,

    Yea that's what I'm told. Even the guy doing the tune said at least it didn't dyno 160 :).

    @ssms5411,

    Yea I mean it's still better than stock I'd guess, considering the old log manifolds I had. I really don't feel the 5hp we picked up, but I'm pretty sure I felt the headers when they went in. With the headers it felt like my acceleration became a lot more linear, u can see the speedo ramp up pretty evenly. From the tune the biggest thing I felt was the trans tuning, you can really feel that, like night and day.

    I'm not sure how much timing he ran, I could call and ask, the guy saves all the tunes. I really wasn't rushed out of there and dyno wise I was offered as many runs as it takes. It just felt like we hit a wall at the end because the last set of dyno runs was either worse or marginally better (0.1 of a hp.. stuff like that).\

    He told me that he knows a shop to do the v6 cam install and all my other goodies for a reasonable price (ie. not the $1200+ i was quoted at some shops...) Now I just have to get all the parts in and then retune. Hopefully I make more power then. After that it's turbo time.

      Nice I'm sure you have more power in it , alot of tuners will make sure you have a safe tune so you don't have any problems with your car. I would ask if he tried to adjust your Long term fuel trims, you'll get better gas milage and the car will run better. I don't worry eoo much about the short term fuel trims too much unless their really bad.

        14.5 starting AFR makes me think you have an exhaust leak somewhere.

          The tuner seemed to think it was just the headers and big exhaust that leaned the car out. I can't hear any pinging or anything even when stomping hard. I'll post a vid of my dyno run so yall can have a listen.

          Today I did weld up the pipe before the y-pipe on the driver's side, it's the one pacesetter says to use the clamp on. My car is too low and I saw a few marks on the clamp and was worried I would mess it up if I scraped it harder. It's possible there was a leak there. No more scraping now though. Just went up to my business and didn't bottom on any speed bumps through the parking garage.

                I thought those numbers seemed kind of low. Maybe I was over excited to see results.

                    sweet, but Im having a little trouble reading the rpms. It looks like you hit your peak hp at 5400rpms, right?

                      Looks like about 5200 rpm :). Yea it's hard to take a good close photo and I don't have a scanner handy.

                        You should have alot more in it if only going to 5200. I think mine would peak around 5700 RPMS with valve float running the Powerdyne. I wasn't able to go get a dyno this week maybe next, its getting into the 100's here so I will go early in the morning so its in the 80's-90's, to get my N/A dyno before I start some more mods on it. Maybe P/P heads, .065 MLS gaskets, ARP head studs, 130LB springs, modded retainers ,manely valves, 1.7 Pro Mags, P/P intakes, oil PSI kit, and double roller timing chain. Then I hope it's cooler by then, to go turbo. I will also get the new digital methanol progressive controller. OneEightSeven you could add some 105LB springs pretty easy if your getting valve float too early. Also some pushrods and retainers too, to help with any other mods.

                          Re: Getting dyno tune Monday. Need advice.

                          Hey ssms5411. I'm planning to do this:

                          ZZP Cam Install Kit, option #4 for L36.
                          OE 850 Lifters
                          JP Double Roller Timing Chain
                          Machined Oil Pump Cover
                          INTENSE 5/16" x .038" x 7.05" Oil Restricted Pushrods
                          Crow Cams 130lb Springs, .600 max lift
                          CompCams High Performance Valve Locks (24)
                          Manley Performance Chrome Moly Valve Spring Retainers

                          And a:

                          Stattama Turbo #2, Duration @ .050" is 212°/212°, Lift is .520”/.520” with 1.6 rockers, Lobe separation is 113 degrees.

                          Or:

                          Stattama Turbo #3, Duration @ .050" is 218°/212°, Lift is .528”/.520” with 1.6 rockers, Lobe separation is 114 degrees.

                          Which cam do you think is better? I will I run into clearance issues (too much lift?) Should I get rockers to avoid deflection, if so which 1.6 rockers should i get? I also sent you a PM earlier about some fuel pump issues :).

                            I haven't heard the best things about Intense pushrods. May want to look into some other brands like comp cams.
