** Update - Dyno tuning done, look at page 2 for results **

Hey gang. I found a reasonably priced shop to dyno tune my 99 Y87 Camaro for $350. My modifications list can be found here: http://oneeightseven.fbodyhosting.com/

I'm scared to see the dyno results, I'm sure its pathetic :-). What all should I get them to do besides the tune? Here's my list:

    1. Recalibrate speedo for tire size.
    2. Remove speed limiter.
    3. Delete P0420, P0146 and my fan relay codes (my electric fan setup is throwing em.)
    4. Firm up shifts for the auto trans.

I'm running on 93 octane now to get ready for the tune on Monday. What else can I do? What should I ask for as far as the actual tune? What kind of improvement should I expect to see?

350 isnt bad. With your mods expect somwhere between 160 and 190. Hell maybe more with a good tune, vr4gasm pulled like 200 tuned by bluecat.

Who knows you might pull 215 WRHP and 234 TQ like Fondle did supposally with stock cam and just bolt-ons.LOL But realalistic about 190 WRHP and 210 TQ.

I sure hope it's not 160. I can almost keep up with a mail order tuned 2003 GTI (tuned to 15 psi boost, intake, exhaust). It's my buddys car. I get a jump on him off the launch due to rwd, gearing and lsd, but he gains hard on the top end and passes me. So I'd hope to be at least at 180. 215 seems high for bolt-ons lol. Maybe that was a 'gtech dyno' :-). Did he have a scan of the printout?

So what about my other question, what should I have the tuning shop do so that I get my moneys worth? They do Z28's and vettes all the time so they seem to know everything I would want already, but just wanted to get more advice :-).

get your cat codes cleared and a cam p0300 code cleared just incase you decide to run a cam but if they are dynoing it see if they will fix your air/fuel ratio that will clear up a good amount of hp.. even if they just tune for 100% throttle you can easyly see gains of 20-30 hp because our cars run pig rich at w/o

Not to be a jackass, but if they weren't tuning his AFR anyways wtf is the point?

X2 , they need to lock in your A/F ratio and timing for the best performance without any KR.

^otherwise what is the point of getting it dynod'. Is 350 the price of the dyno tune, and wideband rental?

Re: Getting dyno tune Monday. Need advice.

Well the dyno tuning was done today. It's hot out right now which is going to be my excuse :), but we started with 175.36 rwhp / 189.78 tq and ended up with 180.56 rwhp / 193.74 tq. Initially it was running a bit lean @ 14.5 afr at the end it was somewhere above 13. I forget exact number.

To be honest I was hoping for a bit more power, around 190, but at least this gives me a baseline to work with. At the end it was just pins and needles on the graphs, difference of tenths of hp between dyno runs.

My buddy with his GTI is going to be sadder than me. If I'm at 180 I'm not even sure he's breaking 200, much less 235 like he claims. Last time I raced him (before headers) he wasn't much faster.

I really like the firm shifts now though. Feels great.

Where's this shop at? I live decently close to Houston and could use a dynotune.

Sorry about the results, especially since it was less than expected.

Re: Getting dyno tune Monday. Need advice.

The shop is Houston Performance (mainly mustang shop) located at 14610 Tomball Parkway. The tuner that freelances out of it can be reached at 832.202.4115 ask for Chuck, say Dmitry referred you. He does f-body and vette stuff. Wideband dyno tune ran me $350, and he said $150 for further tunes. Other shops quoted $700 and $350-450 for further tunes. He tried hard with my car.

160-190 is expected with these cars.

Not bad, its about average unless your Fondle, With the heat your in and I know heat living in AZ, they should try a 12.5-12.8 A/F , do you know how much timing they were running on it? Did they get your LT's tuned, and TQ mang. disabled and shift properties? I think I might go down tomorrow and get mine dynoed since I never have with just my cam. So I have a base # before the turbo , plus they let me run as many runs I want for $60 can't beat that, cool guys at AZ Dyno Chip. Its funny they offered me a job the last time I was there for tunning but I was in the Police Academy at the time so I had to turn it down. They were impressed with my tunning knowledge and how I reduced my KR sensors with my resistor setup. This had to be about 4-5 years ago.
