I want to install a knock gauge to monitor knock at high boost levels without bringing a laptop in the car.
The caspers knock gauge form a GN look slike a good candidate but it appears that to install it you need to tap into the ESC module (electronic spark control) and the gauge reads knock from the module.
Does the 3800 II OBDII even have an ESC module? Would this gauge be compatible?

Yes , just look in the wiring PCM diagrams in the Tech database and it will tell which wires are for the Knock sensors , theres 2 wires, I taped into them to lower desensitize my knock sensors. Or buy a Aeroforce gauge scanner and its like a mini HPtuners except for the tunning it part, has alot of scanning , clear DTC's and can do case learn's also.

Both , because if your getting KR on the side your not monitoring then you might pop a piston on the side your not monitoring.
